Express season comes to an end

The Cold Spring Rockies defeated the Kimball Express 5-4 in 11 innings. The Rockies got the scoring early with 2 runs in the second and third innings, jumping out to a 4-0 lead. The Express battled back getting 3 runs in the fifth on a long 3-run home run to left center off the bat of Ben Johnson, and eventually tied it at 4 in the top of the sixth inning. The game went scoreless until the Rockies pushed across a 2-out run in the bottom of the 11th inning. With the loss, it ended an Express run for a state tournament berth and its season.

Matt Dingmann started on the mound for the Express, relieved by Brooks Marquardt in the fifth, and Johnson in the sixth, taking the hard fought loss.

Offensively, the Express were led by Scott Marquardt 3-5, Brooks Marquardt 3-6, 2 B, 1 RBI and Johnson 1-6, 3R HR, 3 RBI.

     Express finishes its season with a 18 - 10 overall record.
