The Watkins Clippers will host the 2015 Amateur Baseball State Championships, and player representative Dan Berg looks forward to the event. “We are very excited to be given the opportunity to host such a great event.” The Clips’ ballparks will undergo a few cosmetic changes, in preparation for the tournament. “We are changing a few things in the parks, like putting in a grand stand that will seat about 300 people in stadium-seating fashion,” Berg said. Plans include the installation of a deck on the first base side between the dugout and grandstand. There will be block laid from dugout to dugout with a 30-foot netting, to protect fans from foul balls. Also in the works is the purchase of a new scoreboard, which will reside in the same place as the current one. “We know this is going to be a lot of work, but it is a great opportunity for our team and the community,” said Berg.
