All of Meeker County’s storm sirens can remotely be activated throughout the county from the Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center as the emergency warrants. The outdoor warning siren systems are part of the early warning system for persons who may be outdoors prior to a severe weather event. The sirens can be activated by deputies or fire and rescue members spotting during weather related events and radioing in the request into dispatch; or by request to the Sheriff’s Office through the National Weather Service, and usually in conjunction with the spotters who are already on the ground spotting.
