Lynden Twp. crash with injuries

Saturday, April 13, at about 
9:39 p.m., the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office learned of a possible car crash with injuries that may have occurred in Stearns County. Deputies were able to locate the crash scene on County Road 145, just west of Fifth Avenue in Lynden Township.

A 1996 Toyota Corolla driven by Troy Chevalier, age 42, of Clearwater, was driving east on County Road 145. The car went off the roadway and struck a tree. The driver was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital by friends. Alcohol is believed to be a factor. The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office. The St. Cloud Police Department, and Kimball Police Department assisted. 

Watkins Police Blotter

There were a total of 40 calls for March 2013 in the City of Watkins. (Watkins is patrolled by the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office.) It was noted at the April 11 council meeting that the fire call listed here was a locomotive fire, and that the child abuse call turned out to be nothing.

Among the 40 calls in March were: 5 public assist, 4 animal complaints, 4 traffic stop warnings with 1 citation, 2 agency assists, 2 lost/found property, 2 medical calls, 2 ordinance violations, 2 other, 2 suicide attempts, 2 suspicious person/vehicles, and one each of the following: abandoned/stalled vehicle, child abuse, disturbance, fire call, harassment/stalking, noise complaint, scam/swindle, school bus violation, theft by check, theft, vehicle unlock, and warrant.

April 9, Wesley Allen Haflich, 30 of Maple Lake, was charged with felony theft.

April 9, Rose Marie Chadwick, 29,of South Haven, was arrested in Annandale on an apprehension and detention order from the MN Department of Corrections.

April 10, Angela Rose Carter, 45 of Annandale, was arrested in Corinna Township on an apprehension and detention order from Wright County.

April 11, Samuel Raymond Schaffer, 21 of Maple Lake, was arrested in Annandale for domestic assault and interfere with a 911 call.

April 12, Gina Marie Woodford, 19 of South Haven, was arrested in South Haven on the charge of fifth-degree controlled substance violation.

April 13, Orrin David Polzin, 28 of Kimball, was arrested in Annandale on the charge of third-degree DWI.

April 14, Megan Marie Peirce, 29 of Maple Lake, was arrested in Maple Lake on the charge of disorderly conduct.

April 14, Justin Michael Kriedman, 19 of South Haven, was arrested in Southside Township on the charge of domestic assault.

There were 66 property-damage accidents, 8 personal-injury accidents, 2 hit-and-run accidents, and 5 car-deer accidents.

There were 9 arrests for DWI,
2 underage-consumption arrests,
2 school bus stop-arm violations,and 40 tickets for miscellaneous traffic violations reported this week.

Monday, April 15

3:36 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Eden Valley Rescue Squad and Watkins Ambulance for a medical at a residence on Church Street South, City of Eden Valley. One individual was transported to Paynesville Hospital.

Sunday, April 14

7:13 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Eden Valley Rescue and Watkins Ambulance to a medical at a residence on Douglas Drive in Eden Valley. One individual was transported to the Meeker Memorial Hospital.

6:59 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a complaint of harassment at an address on Meeker Avenue North, Watkins. The deputy advised of options.

Saturday, April 13

7:25 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to and dispatched Dassel Rescue and Gold Cross Ambulance to a one-vehicle personal injury accident at US Highway 12 and MN Highway 15.  One party was taken to Hutchinson Hospital and MN State Patrol wrote the report.

11:21 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a civil issue at the Watkins Mobile Home Park.  The deputy advised the parties of their options.

3:35 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a stolen vehicle from a residence on Douglas Drive, Eden Valley. The deputy forwarded all information to the Eden Valley Police Department.

3:57 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a dog in the middle of MN Highway 15, Kingston Township.  The deputy was able to locate the owner.

10:50 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Eden Valley Rescue Squad and Watkins Ambulance for a medical at a residence on State Street North, City of Eden Valley. One individual was transported to St. Cloud Hospital.

11:32 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Watkins Rescue Squad and Gold Cross Ambulance for a medical at a residence on Church Street, City of Watkins. One individual was transported to St. Cloud Hospital.

Friday, April 12

7:38 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of an accident with no injuries on Central Avenue North, Watkins. 

8:34 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to check the welfare on a party at a residence on Central Avenue North.  All was found to be okay. 

6:12 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance for a medical at St. Anthony Manor, Church Street, City of Watkins. No transport was needed.

Thursday, April 11

5:29 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of vehicle in the ditch on MN Hwy 15, North Kingston Township.   Upon arrival of the deputy a tow was contacted but later canceled because a passerby was able to remove the vehicle.

5:48 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office contacted the MN State Patrol and responded to a report of a semi-tractor/trailer stuck and blocking MN Highway 15 near 240th Street, Dassel Township. Upon arrival of the deputy there were several other trucks stuck at this location. A big rig tow was dispatched to assist clearing the highway and deputies and the MN State Patrol remained on scene until 9:48 a.m. when the highway was opened to all traffic.

1:34 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of a theft from a residence on 3rd Street South, Watkins. 

5:15 p.m. a deputy came across an unoccupied vehicle in the ditch along MN Highway 55 near 650th Street, Forest Prairie Township. The vehicle was well off the road and not a hazard.

8:16 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance to a medical at a residence on 182nd Street, Stearns County. One individual was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital.

9:36 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office assisted the Eden Valley Police Department with a civil matter at a residence on 272nd Street, Eden Valley.

 Wednesday, April 10

8:33 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of a theft by check from Kingston Auto Sales, US Highway 12, Dassel.

11:25 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a dog complaint at an address on County State Aid Highway 19, Kingston Township. The deputy located the dog and a citation for dog at large will be issued to the owner.

7:34 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a request for a deer possession tag on County State Aid Highway 34, Forest Prairie Township. The information was passed on to the MN Department of Natural Resources.

9:45 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a suspicious activity on Meeker Avenue South, Watkins. Upon arrival of deputies the person was gone.

Tuesday, April 9

1:35 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to an alarm at an address on 350th Street, North Kingston Township. Upon arrival deputies found everything to be okay.

6:59 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to an unwanted person at a residence on Meeker Avenue, Watkins. The unwanted person left without incident.

Monday, April 8

3:17 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received information of harassment at a residence on Meeker Avenue South, Watkins.  Contact was made with the caller who stated he would not make any more phone calls.

3:22 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of theft from Centra Sota, 4th Street North, Watkins.

4:44 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Eden Valley Rescue and Watkins Ambulance to a medical at a residence on State Street North, Eden Valley.  One individual was transported to the Paynesville Hospital.

5:31 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of a stolen vehicle at a residence on County State Aid Highway 19, Kingston.

8:53 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of loose cattle on County State Aid Highway 21 Kingston, Township. The cattle were returned to their pasture.
