Local crime blotters April 25, 2013

Accident with injury in Brockway Twp.

David Skroch of Rice, and his 16-year-old daughter Kathryn were trying to round up cattle that had escaped from the Skroch family farm located at 41723 105th Ave. in Brockway Township. The two were using a 1984 Chevrolet pickup with a flatbed belonging to David. Kathryn was riding on the flatbed. A sudden truck movement caused Kathryn to lose her position and she fell onto the tarred roadway, striking her head. David, upon seeing this, immediately called 911. Deputies from the 
Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, St. Stephen Fire and Rescue, Gold Cross Ambulance, and North Memorial Life Link helicopter responded. Kathryn was readied for transport and was airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital for treatment of her injuries.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident.

Wright County Sheriff’s Office

April 17, Leonard William Driscoll, 27 of Maple Lake, was arrested in Annandale on a Hennepin County warrant for theft.

April 18, Neil Thomas Paumen, 48 of Maple Lake, was arrested in Maple Lake Township on the charge of thirddegree DWI.

April 19, Connor Wayne Bergner, 22 of Annandale, was arrested in Annandale on an Anoka County warrant for fifth-degree controlled substance violation.

April 19, Travis James Dunfee, 20 of Annandale, was arrested in Annandale on the charge of second-degree controlled substance violation.

There were 93 property-damage accidents,
5 personal-injury accidents, and 6 car-deer accidents.

There were 12 arrests for DWI, 3 school bus stop-arm violations, and 34 tickets for miscellaneous traffic violations reported this week.

Sunday, April 21

8:49 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of unsafe conditions on 295th Street, Forest City Township.  Contact was made with the Meeker County Highway Department who responded to fix a sink hole in the roadway.

Saturday, April 20

1:26 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to assist with an injured deer near a residence on 675th Avenue, Forest City Township. The deputy located the deer which was put down.

1:05 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an item on the roadway on MN Hwy 24, Forest City Township. The item was gone upon the deputy’s arrival.

5:20 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office transferred a cellular 9-1-1 call to the MN State Patrol for a car/deer property damage accident in the area of MN Highway 15, Dassel Township.

7:49 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a southbound driving complaint in the area of MN Highway 15, North Kingston Township. The deputy located the vehicle, spoke with the driver who was advised of the complaint and given a warning.

8:23 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to and dispatched the Dassel Fire Department for a report of possible gas type odor at a residence on 742nd Avenue, Kingston Township. The deputy assisted the Dassel Fire Department in checking the residence and it was found that the water heater was malfunctioning.

Friday April 19

5:54 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office assisted with vehicles that were stuck on the roadway in the area of County State Aid Highway 17 and MN Highway 24, North Kingston Township.

7:25 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office checked on a vehicle in the ditch on County State Aid Highway 34 in the area of 293rd Street, Forest City Township. There was no damage to the vehicle.

12:48 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a gas drive off from Schmidty’s, Atlantic Avenue West, Grove City. The driver was contacted and returned to pay for the gas.

1:00 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of truancy issues at a residence on Glen Road North, Watkins. The issue was forwarded to the Truancy Prevention Officer.

4:06 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance to stand by for a barn fire on Calumet Road, South Haven, Stearns County.

7:51 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to assist an individual with a custody issue at a residence on 742nd Avenue, Kingston Township. The deputy spoke with the individual and there were no further issues.

Thursday April 18

3:37 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a stalled vehicle along MN Highway 15 near 209th Street and a person walking towards Dassel on County State Aid Highway 4 near MN Highway 15, Dassel Township. Upon arrival the deputy could not find anyone walking and the vehicle had left the area.

10:15 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office assisted the public at a residence on Church Street, Watkins.  A deputy spoke with an individual who stated she no longer needed law enforcement assistance.

1:50 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received information of a property damage accident in the parking lot of Stein’s Thriftway, Central Avenue North, Watkins.  No injuries were reported.

2:12 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of threats made at the ACGC High School, MN Hwy. 4, Grove City.

5:44 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a request to assist in unlocking a vehicle behind a residence on Central Avenue North, Watkins.  The deputy was able to successfully unlock the vehicle.

10:06 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a residence on Central Avenue South, Watkins. The party was reporting an accident that occurred on MN Highway 55 just west of Kimball. The caller was transferred to the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office.

11:13 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch along County State Aid Highway 17 near MN Highway 24, North Kingston Township. There were no injuries and the deputy remained on scene until the vehicle was removed from the ditch.

Wednesday, April 17

3:18 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office assisted the St. Cloud Police Department with checking a residence on Douglas Drive, Eden Valley.

4:00 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a vehicle in the ditch on 750th Avenue, North Kingston Township.  A deputy checked the area and the vehicle was no longer in the area.

Tuesday, April 16

11:29 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Eden Valley Rescue and Watkins Ambulance to a medical at a residence on 385th Street, Manannah Township.  One individual was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital.

1:26 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of theft from CentraSota, 4th Street North, Watkins.

2:32 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office assisted the Eden Valley Police Department with a welfare check at a residence on Hutcheson Avenue East, Eden Valley.

2:38 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance to a medical at a residence on Linden Avenue East, Kimball.  One individual was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital.

5:21 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to an alarm at CentraSota, 4th Street North, Watkins.  All was found to be okay.

8:40 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office assisted the Wright County Sheriff’s Office with a traffic stop on MN Highway 15, North Kingston Township.

Monday, April 15

3:36 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Eden Valley Rescue Squad and Watkins Ambulance for a medical at a residence on Church Street South, City of Eden Valley. One individual was transported to Paynesville Hospital.

8:27 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a low electric line on MN Highway 55 and County State Aid Highway 2, Watkins. The information was passed on to Meeker Coop Light and Power.

9:07 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance to a medical at St. Anthony Manor on Church Street, Watkins. No transport was needed.
