Local crime blotters Aug. 8, 2013

Fatal accident with semi

Wednesday, July 31, at 3 p.m. the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a vehicle accident located near State Highway 4 and 380th Street, Union Grove Township. Meeker County Deputies, Minnesota State Patrol, Paynesville Ambulance, and Paynesville Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the scene.

Frederic Brown, 76, of rural Darwin was driving a 2012 Chevy Equinox northbound on State Highway 4 when he crossed over the centerline and struck a 1991 Freightliner semi driven by Ricky Lahr, 28, of Paynesville. The semi was owned by Paynesville Farmers Union Coop.

Frederic Brown was pronounced dead at the scene. Ricky Lahr was taken by the Paynesville Ambulance to the Paynesville Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The crash is under investigation by the Minnesota State Patrol. Also assisting at the crash scene were the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office and the Paynesville Police Department.

Wright County Sheriff’s Office

July 29, Nicholas Jordan Lee Monssen, 19 of Rockford, was arrested in Stearns County on a Wright County warrant for underage consumption.

July 29, Gordon Mark Chamberlain, 55 of Cokato, was charged with gross misdemeanor DWI.

Aug. 1, Charles Allen Fisher, 45 of Cokato, was arrested in Cokato on the charges of domestic assault, domestic assault by strangulation and third-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Aug. 2, Joseph Daniel Zeidler, 24 of Annandale, was arrested in Annandale on the charges of third-degree controlled substance violation and fifth-degree controlled substance violation.

Aug. 3, Shawn William Lampi, 27 of Annandale, was arrested in Rockford on the charges of obstructing legal process with force and domestic assault.

Aug. 4, Tyler James Fisher, 19 of South Haven, was arrested in Annandale on a Benton County warrant for fifth-degree controlled substance violation.

There were 15 property-damage accidents, 14 personal-injury accidents, 2 hit-and-run accidents, and 5 car-deer accidents.

There were 3 arrests for DWI,
1 underage-consumption arrest, and 47 tickets for miscellaneous traffic violations reported this week.

Sunday, Aug. 4, 2013

12:13 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office observed a disturbance in the alleyway behind Bud’s Bar, Central Avenue North, City of Watkins. The deputy issued a warning for an ordinance violation to two individuals.

2:18 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a possible disturbance at a residence in the Watkins Trailer Court, City of Watkins. The deputy made contact with the homeowner and found all to be okay. Also assisting was the Eden Valley Police Department.

2:31 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office issued a citation for loud music at a residence in the Watkins Trailer Park, City of Watkins.

3:11 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a driving complaint at a residence in the Watkins Trailer Court, City of Watkins. The deputy, with the assistance of the Eden Valley Police Department, located the driver and after investigation arrested Cole James Espelund, age 25, of Watkins, on charges of fourth-degree Driving While Intoxicated.

1:19 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance, per the request of the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, for a medical at a residence on 120th Street, Maine Prairie Township. One individual was transported to St. Cloud Hospital.

3:37 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to assist the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office with transporting an in custody individual from a residence on State Street North, City of Eden Valley, to the Meeker County Jail.

5:58 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to assist an individual at a residence on 312th Street, Kingston Township. The deputies made contact with the individuals who were advised of their options.

7:14 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of harassment in the area of 2nd Street and Meeker Avenue, City of Watkins. The deputy made contact with the individual who was advised of their options.

9:51 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance, per the request of the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, for a medical at a residence on Calumet Road, Fairhaven Township. One individual was treated at the scene.

10:12 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of suspicious activity at a residence on CSAH 27, City of Kingston.

Saturday, August 3

2:54 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a suspicious person at a residence on CSAH 2,
Forest City Township. The deputy located the individual and after investigation, arrested Chad Judson Elliott, age 28,of Watkins, for third-degree DWI, open bottle, and small amount of marijuana. Also assisting
was the Litchfield Police Department.

3:12 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to an alarm at the Millner Heritage Winery, MN Hwy. 15, Kingston Township. The deputy checked the building and property and found all to be okay.

8:02 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to and dispatched Watkins Ambulance for a medical at a residence on 380th Street, Forest Prairie Township. One individual was transported to Meeker Memorial Hospital.

10:57 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance for a medical at the Hilltop Care Center, Watkins. One individual was transported to St. Cloud Hospital.

2:23 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a missing child at the Meeker County Fairgrounds. After a short search by the Sheriff’s Reserve Deputies and the Sheriff’s Posse the child was located.

3:29 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to and dispatched Watkins Ambulance for a medical at an address on 365th Street, North Kingston. One individual was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital.

7:07 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of a two-vehicle property damage accident at a residence on Western Ave. So., City of Watkins.

9:46 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a possible disturbance at a residence on Central Avenue South, City of Watkins. The deputy checked the area and found all to be okay.

10:32 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of 1st Street and Meeker Avenue, City of Watkins. The deputies after investigation arrested Cole James Espelund, age 25 of Watkins, on pending charges of fourth-degree Driving While Intoxicated.

Friday, August 2

11:46 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office assisted the CEE-VI Drug Task Force with a search warrant at an address on 312th Street, Kingston Township.

11:46 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Gold Cross Ambulance to stand by at an address on 312th Street, Kingston Township.

Thursday, August 1

7:38 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to an assist at a residence on 312th Street, Kingston Township. The individuals were advised of their options.

Wednesday July 31

8:38 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Eden Valley Rescue and Watkins Ambulance to a medical at a residence on Evergreen Court, Eden Valley. One individual was transported to Paynesville Hospital.

9:18 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to and dispatched Litchfield Rescue and Gold Cross Ambulance to a medical at a residence on County State Aid Highway 2, Forest City. There was no transport.

Tuesday, July 30

11:03 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of harassment from a residence on 312th Street, Kingston Township.

1:03 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office assisted the city of Kingston at the Kingston Community Center on 722nd Avenue, Kingston.

2:10 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office issued a warning for a parking violation on Glenshire Road and Glen Road North, Watkins.

8:51 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an off-road vehicle complaint at 280th Street and 738th Avenue, Kingston Township. The vehicles were gone upon the deputies arrival.

Monday, July 29

1:13 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to an alarm at the Millner Heritage Winery, MN Highway 15, Kingston Township.  Upon arrival of the deputies a door was found open but everything was okay.  The door was secured and the owner advised of the findings.

4:19 p.m. a Meeker County deputy came across a stalled vehicle near the intersection of 4th Street and Central Avenue, Watkins.  The vehicle was not blocking the roadway and the driver had help on the way.

8:36 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of fireworks at the Watkins Softball Fields on 1st Street, Watkins. The deputy spoke with individuals and warned them of the complaint.

8:38 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a single vehicle property damage accident on MN Highway 15, North Kingston Township. The deputy assisted with traffic control and the MN State Patrol will be writing the report.
