Local crime blotters Aug. 15, 2013

Kingston shed fire

Monday, Aug. 12, at 2:45 p.m. the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office and the Dassel Fire Department responded to 31344 CSAH 19 for a shed fire. The owner, Junice Anderson, age 70, of Kimball had just mowed some grass and then put the mower back in the shed, and a short while later the 8x12-foot gardening shed burned. The shed and the items consisting of the lawn tractor, two tillers, a sprayer, a pull behind leaf rake, various hand tools and some antiques were a total loss. No one was injured as a result of this fire. The estimated total loss is approximately $8,000, and is under investigation by the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office.

 

Harvey Township shed fire

Monday, Aug. 12, at 5:45 p.m. Meeker County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a structure fire and responded along with Litchfield and Eden Valley Fire Departments to the address of 62316 300th street in Harvey Township. The owner, Merlyn Maxon, age 68, was also present. The shed was fully engulfed upon the arrival of emergency personnel, and both the shed and its contents were a total loss. The shed contained a rider lawnmower, furniture, and various car parts. The fire also spread to a smaller shed nearby that was used for storing firewood only, causing moderate damage to that shed. The total estimated loss of value is approximately $12,000. It was determined that a rider lawnmower had started the fire after igniting for an unknown reason, and shortly after having been used and parked in the shed. No persons were injured during this incident and it is currently under investigation by the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office.

Stearns County felony DWI arrest

Wednesday, Aug. 7, at approximately 12:46 a.m. a Stearns County Sheriff’s Deputy stopped to assist a motorist who appeared to be having car problems on County Road 7 in St. Augusta.  Upon speaking with the driver, the Deputy determined that the driver of the vehicle, Kenneth John Hoffman, age 46 of South Haven, appeared to be intoxicated, had several open containers of alcohol in the vehicle and his driver’s license was “Cancelled-Inimical to Public Safety”. The Deputy determined that Hoffman had at least 5 prior Driving While Intoxicated convictions and subsequently arrested the driver on charges of First Degree Felony DWI, Driving After Cancellation-Inimical to Public Safety and Open Container. Hoffman is currently being held in the Stearns County Jail.

Kimball Police Blotter

There were a total of 46 calls for Kimball Police in Kimball during July 2013. There were 30 extra patrols, 21 speeding citations (and 8 warnings), 16 equipment warnings, 5 seat belt citations (and 1 warning), 4 stop sign/light violation citations (and 1 warning), 4 reports of suspicious vehicle/person/activity, 3 insurance violation warnings (and 2 citations), 3 DWI arrests, 2 drug/narcotic violation arrests, 2 Driving after revocation/suspension/cancelation arrests, 2 careless/reckless driving citations, 2 noise complaints, 2 motorist assists,2 driver license violation warnings (and 1 citation), 2 domestic warnings (and 1 arrest), 2 alarms; and there were 1 case each of the following: driving complaint, license plate/tab warning, matter of information, medical call, move-over law citation, no pay complaint, parking violation complaint, public urination citation, public urination warning, suicidal case, warrant arrest, welfare check.

There were a total of 36 calls for Kimball Police in Fair Haven. These included: 7 speed warnings (and 6 citations), 3 equipment warnings, 3 citizen contacts, 3 agency assists, 2 extra patrols, 2 insurance violation warnings (and 1 citation), 2 matter of information calls, 2 OFP violation reports; and there were one each of the following: animal complaint, licence plate/tabs warning, passing on right warning, seat belt citation, seat belt warning.

There were a total of 42 calls in Watkins during July 2013. Among them were: 9 traffic stops (all warnings, no citations), 6 public assists, 5 domestic calls, 2 animal complaints, 2 assists to other agencies, 2 reports of child abuse/maltreatment, 2 medical calls, 2 suspicious person/vehicle reports, and one each of the following: abandoned/stalled vehicle, alarm, civil complaint, fireworks complaint, lost/found property, noise complaint, parking violation, theft by check, theft, threats, unsafe conditions, and vehicle unlock.

Eden Valley Police Blotter

There were 65 calls for Eden Valley Police during July 2013. Among them were 18 miscellaneous calls, 14 verbal warnings, 6 rescue assists, 6 public assists, 5 other department assists, 3 citations, 3 arrests, 2 domestics, 2 accidents, 2 thefts, and one each of the following: motorist assist, burglary, dog complaint, and alarm..

Wright County Sheriff’s Office

Aug. 5, Ryan Michael Renstrom, 38 of Maple Lake, was arrested in Buffalo on a Wright County warrant for second-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Aug. 5, Cody Rodderick Otto, 20 of Buffalo, was charged with felony possession of child pornography.

Aug. 5, Robbin Kay Rollag, 49 of Buffalo, was charged with gross misdemeanor crime against family, malicious punishment.

Aug. 6, Sarah Pauline Daugherty, 30 of Buffalo, was arrested in Buffalo on a Wright County warrant for theft.

Aug. 6, Adam Michael Myers, 36 of Annandale, was arrested in Buffalo on a MN Department of Corrections warrant for receiving stolen property.

Aug. 7, Jake Randall Forpahl, 20 of Buffalo, was arrested in Buffalo on the charge of fifth-degree domestic assault.

Aug. 8, Dylan William Olson, 18 of Buffalo, was charged with misdemeanor fifth-degree assault.

Aug. 8, Hope Christine DeGroat, 23 of Buffalo, was charged with felony fraud.

Aug. 9, Ricky Joe Jeske, 52 of Buffalo, was arrested in Buffalo on the charges of domestic assault, fifth-degree assault, and contempt of court.

Aug. 9, Lenus Earl Ladehoff, 45 of Maple Lake, was arrested in Maple Lake on the charge of second-degree DWI.

Aug 9, Jason Allen Nelms, 29 of Buffalo, was charged with felony burglary.

Aug. 10, Joseph Daniel Zeidler, 24 of Annandale, was arrested in Annandale on a Wright County warrant for probation violation.

There were 21 property-damage accidents, 10 personal-injury accidents, 2 hit-and-run accidents, and
3 car-deer accidents.

There were 6 arrests for DWI,
3 underage-consumption arrests, and 42 tickets for miscellaneous traffic violations reported this week.

Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013

9:40 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched the Kimball Rescue Squad, Gold Cross Ambulance, and Watkins Ambulance to a medical at a residence on 323rd Street, Kingston Township. One individual was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital.

12:12 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched the Eden Valley Rescue Squad and the Watkins Ambulance to a medical at a residence on Coleman Avenue East in Eden Valley. One individual was transported to the Meeker Memorial Hospital.

7:17 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of criminal damage to property at RIE Coatings Incorporated, Logeais Street, City of Eden Valley.

Saturday, August 10

7:40 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of cows on the road at a residence on MN Highway 22, Manannah Township. The deputy was able to make contact with the owners of the property and they were going to take care of getting the cows back inside the fence.

9:14 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Eden Valley Rescue Squad and Watkins Ambulance to a medical at the Valley Inn Bar on State Street North in Eden Valley. One individual was transported to the Paynesville Hospital.

9:17 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to an airplane complaint at a residence on First Street in Watkins. The deputy advised the complainant that the airplane was a crop duster.

1:14 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched the Watkins Ambulance to a medical in Stearns County. One individual was transported to the Buffalo Hospital.

6:53 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to and dispatched
Watkins Ambulance for a medical at a residence on Central Avenue South, City of Watkins. One individual was transported to St. Cloud Hospital.

Friday, August 9

8:49 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office assisted an individual who resides at a residence on 657th Avenue, Forest Prairie Township, with questions on a citation received in Arizona.

9:01 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Eden Valley Rescue to a lift assist at a residence on MN Highway 22, Eden Lake Township, Stearns County.  No transport was needed, as it was a lift assist only.

11:51 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a complaint of a civil issue at an address on 367th Street, North Kingston Township. Upon arrival the deputy advised of options.

Thursday, August 8

8:46 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a report of damage to property at a residence on 312th Street, Kingston Township. The owner was advised of his options, as it was a civil matter.

Wednesday, August 7

10:54 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a sex crime at a residence on County State Aid Highway 21, Kingston Township.

10:55 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to and dispatched Watkins Ambulance to a medical at a residence on 350th Street, North Kingston Township. One individual was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital.

11:44 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a civil issue at a residence on 677th Avenue, Forest Prairie Township. The deputy advised the individual of their options.

12:06 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance and the Eden Valley Rescue Squad to a medical at a residence on County Road 34, Eden Lake Township in Stearns County. One individual was transported to the
St. Cloud Hospital.

12:48 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Gold Cross Ambulance and the Watkins Rescue Squad to a medical at the Hilltop Healthcare Center on Luella Street, Watkins. One individual was transported to the Paynesville Hospital.

On the 7th at 4:25 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a civil issue at a residence on North Milky Way Street, Cosmos.

9:46 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office assisted the public at a residence on 677th Avenue, Forest Prairie Township.

Tuesday, August 6

2:19 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of a burglary at a residence on 2nd Street South, Grove City.

10:34 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of theft of plastic flowers and three solar lights at St John’s Church Cemetery on Curran Street, Darwin.

12:34 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office assisted at a residence on 1st Street, Watkins, with some questions on a civil matter.

5:27 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Eden Valley Spotters, Grove City Spotters, Litchfield Spotters, Dassel Spotters and Watkins Spotters to take their positions as Meeker County was in a severe weather warning. There was quarter size hail reported in some areas as well as heavy rain. There were several trees down around the area. No injuries were reported.

7:20 p.m. northern Meeker County was placed in a severe thunderstorm warning. There was no damage reported. Eden Valley reported heavy rains and pea-sized hail in the area.

7:36 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Grove City Spotters and Eden Valley Spotters to take their positions for severe weather that was entering Meeker County. Only heavy rains were reported and pea-sized hail near Grove City.

Monday, August 5

9:06 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of a theft from the Koronis Regional Park, Union Grove Township.

9:48 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance for a medical at the Hilltop Care Center, Watkins. One individual was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital.

11:51 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Eden Valley Police Department and Eden Valley Fire Department for an alarm at the Eden Valley Watkins Jr/Sr High School. Upon arrival of the officer it was determined to be an overheated outlet and the fire department was cancelled.

6:36 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of a domestic at a residence on 1st Street, Watkins. Samantha Ann Koehn, age 29, of Watkins, was arrested for domestic assault and disorderly conduct.
