Local crime blotters Sept. 19, 2013

Watkins police blotter

There were a total of 54 police calls in Watkins during the month of August 2013. (Watkins is policed by the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office.) Among them were 6 medical calls, 6 complaints of suspicious vehicles/persons, 4 animal complaints, 4 agency assists, 3 disturbance complaints, 3 traffic stops (resulting in 2 warnings and 1 citation), 2 911 hangups, 2 assist the public, 2 forgeries (plus 1 theft by forged check), 2 harassment/stalking complaints, 2 noise complaints, 2 warrants; and there were 1 each of the following: welfare check, child abuse/maltreatment, civil complaint, domestic call, driving complaint, fire call, drunk driver investigation, juvenile trouble, property-damage accident, security check, sex crime offense, suicide attempt, tampering with motor vehicle, unwanted individual, and vulnerable adult.

Thursday, Sept. 12, just before noon, the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office responded to a one-car rollover on CR 133 just NE of 322nd Street in St. Wendel Township.

Dylan Mendel, age 19 of St. Cloud, was driving a 2002 silver Jeep Wagon northeast on CR 133 when he was distracted by a bee inside the car. When Mendel was distracted, he drove his car off the road into the right ditch. Losing control of the car caused the car to roll over. Mendel was taken to St. Cloud Hospital by Gold Cross where he was treated for his injuries.

Assisting the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office was Gold Cross Ambulance and St. Joseph Fire/Rescue.

Fire destroys shed

Thursday, Sept. 12, at 3:42 a.m., the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a detached storage shed on fire at the address of 60664 CSAH 3, Eden Valley, The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office and Eden
Valley Fire Department responded to the scene of the structure fire. The shed was fully engulfed in flames upon emergency personnel’s arrival. The fire department was able to extinguish the fire. The shed and contents were a total loss and valued at approximately $10,000.

The property owner was identified as Curtis White, 41 years old, of rural Eden Valley. Curtis White was burning a stump out of the ground near the shed on the evening of Sept. 11. The fire was extinguished prior to going inside for the night. The fire rekindled sometime after White went inside catching the nearby shed on fire. There were no injuries as a result of the fire.

Wright County Sheriff’s Office

Sept. 9, James Raymond Bakke, 45 of Clearwater, was arrested in Buffalo on a Wright County warrant for terroristic threats.

Sept. 9, Thomas Allen Lovitt, 29 of Clearwater, was arrested in Buffalo on a Wright County warrant for violation of conditions of release.

Sept. 10, Kristina Carrie Ann Kroeger, 29 of Annandale, was arrested in Buffalo on an apprehension and detention order from the MN Department of Corrections.

Sept. 10, Nicholas Bryan Ordorff, 30 of Annandale, was arrested in Monticello on a Wright County warrant for interference with a 9-1-1 call.

Sept. 12, Randy Allen Gordon, 50 of Maple Lake, was arrested in Isanti County on a Wright County warrant for fifth-degree controlled substance violation.

Sept. 14, Naomi Machelle Beith, 28 of Kimball, was arrested in Cokato Township on an apprehension and detention order from the MN Department of Corrections.

Sept. 14, Andrew Graham Scott, 21 of Annandale, was arrested in Annandale on a Stearns County warrant for forgery.

There were 19 property-damage accidents, 4 personal-injury accidents, and 5 car-deer accidents.

There were 6 arrests for DWI,
1 underage-consumption arrest, and 49 tickets for miscellaneous traffic violations reported this week.

Monday, Sept. 16, 2013

2:19 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Eden Valley Rescue Squad for a medical at a residence on Elk Avenue, City of Eden Valley. One individual was assisted at the scene with a lift assist only.

Sunday, Sept. 15

12:08 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to assist the Eden Valley Police Department with a traffic stop on Meeker Avenue East, City of Eden Valley.

10:48 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office took as report of criminal damage to property at a residence on MN Highway 15, Dassel Township.

6:20 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office transferred a caller to the MN St Patrol for a report of a car versus wild turkey property damage accident in the area of MN Highway 24 and 315th Street, Forest City Township.

6:30 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance for a medical at a residence on Meeker Ave. S., City of Watkins. One individual was transported to St. Cloud Hospital.

Saturday, Sept. 14

1:51 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a driving complaint at the Riverside Store, 318th Street, City of Forest City. The deputy checked the area and found that the suspect motorcycle had left prior to arrival.

11:54 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a request to check the welfare of an individual at an address on Church Street South, Watkins. Upon arrival the deputy found no one was at the residence and called the reporting party back and advised of findings.

5:16 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of threats at an address on MN Highway 22, Litchfield Township.

8:06 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to assist the Department of Corrections in checking for an individual at a residence on County State Aid Highway 19, City of Kingston. After a search of the property, deputies located and arrested Naomi Machelle Beith, age 28, of Kimball, on charges of felony probation violation and transported the suspect to Dassel/Cokato High School for a transfer with Wright County Sheriff’s Office.

Friday, Sept. 13

4:20 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of a car/deer accident CSAH 17, Kingston Township; there were no injuries.

5:31 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office observed an occupied stalled vehicle in the area of CSAH 17 and MN Highway 24, North Kingston Township. The deputy made contact with the driver who was overtired and had pulled over to rest. The deputy warned the driver for expired registration and found everything else okay.

9:59 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to an alarm at the
Millner Heritage Winery on MN Highway 15, Kingston Township. Prior to the deputy’s arrival the alarm company called back and advised it was a false alarm.

12:31 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of theft from a vehicle that was parked near the intersection of 743rd Avenue and 262nd Street, Kingston Township.

8:11 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to assist the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office in locating an individual at a residence on Meeker Avenue North, City of Watkins. The deputies checked the residence and found the individual not to be at home.

9:03 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of a car/deer accident in the area of MN Highway 15 and 235th Street, Dassel Township.

9:22 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to and dispatched Dassel Rescue Squad and Gold Cross Ambulance for a report of a possible physical domestic disturbance at a residence on CSAH 24, Dassel Township. Deputies arrived and after investigation arrested Becky Helen Sumstad, age 56, of Dassel, for domestic assault.

9:42 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Eden Valley Rescue Squad,
