Local crime blotters Oct. 17 2013

Car rollover with injuries Oct. 12

At 11:37 a.m. Saturday Oct. 12, the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a personal injury accident near the address of 71500 CSAH 18. Meeker County Deputies, Dassel Fire and Rescue, Allina Ambulance, and Life-Link Helicopter were dispatched to the scene.

Steven Oman, 26 years old, from rural Dassel was driving a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix east on CSAH 18 when he lost control of the vehicle and went into the ditch causing the vehicle to roll over. Steven Oman was ejected from the vehicle.

Steven Oman was air lifted to North Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries. The extent of his injuries are unknown at this time.

The accident is under investigation by the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office.

Motorcycle collision Oct. 13

At 5:46 p.m. Sunday Oct. 13, the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a motorcycle accident in front of the residence of 55354 CSAH 3, Union Grove Township. Meeker County Deputies, Minnesota State Patrol, Gold Cross Ambulance, Grove City Rescue, Grove City Fire, and Life Link Helicopter were dispatched to the scene.

William Shea, 64 years old, of Atwater was riding a 2005 Harley-Davidson with a group of motorcycles west on CSAH 3. The motorcycles traveling in front of William Shea slowed down; he was unable to slow in time and struck the motorcycle in front of him. The motorcycle that was struck was a 2013 Harley-Davidson driven by Patrick Walsh, 59 years old, of Atwater. The collision caused William Shea to lose control of the motorcycle. Patrick Walsh was able to keep control of his motorcycle and he and his passenger were not injured.

William Shea was airlifted from the scene to the St. Cloud Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The Minnesota State Patrol assisted at the accident scene. The crash is under investigation by the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office.

Eden Valley Police blotter

There were a total of 73 calls in Eden Valley during September 2013 (down from 83 in August). Among them were 29 verbal warnings and 19 miscellaneous calls. There were 6 citations, 4 rescue assist calls, 3 agency assists, 3 alarm calls, 2 dog complaints, 2 arrests, 2 public assists. There also were one each of the following; motorist assist, vandalism, and theft.

Watkins Police blotter

There were a total of 47 calls in
Watkins during September 2013. Among them were 10 traffic stop warnings (and 1 citation), 6 medical calls,
6 suspicious person/vehicle complaints, 3 agency assists, 2 animal complaints, 2 welfare checks, 2 complaints of harassment/stalking. There also were one each of the following complaints: 911 hangup, disturbance, driving complaints, forgery, lost/found property, missing person, off-highway vehicle complaint, property-damage accident, scam attempt, suicide attempt, theft by check, trespass, unsafe conditions, vulnerable adult, warrant.

The Meeker County Sheriff’s Office is paticipating in Safe and Sober during October, focusing on traffic stops for seatbelts.

According to deputy Josh Case, who patrols Watkins, there was an incident Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 8, that involved a shooting. Case mentioned it at the Oct. 10 council meeting because people had heard the shot and were questioning what had happened. There was a suicide, a self-inflicted gunshot. There never was a danger to the public, Case stated. 

Wright County Sheriff’s Office

Oct. 7, Nathan James Good, 21 of Cokato, was arrested in Cokato on a Minn. Department of Corrections warrant for parole violation.

Oct. 7, Jason Allen Forpahl, 18 of Buffalo, was charged with felony burglary.

Oct. 8, Phillip Lee Harrison, 24 of Annandale, was arrested in Albion Township on Renville County warrant for theft.

Oct. 9, Jessica Marie Spike, 31 of Annandale, was arrested in Middle-ville Township on the charge of third-degree DWI.

Oct. 9, Jamie Yvette Walter, 43 of Cold Spring, was arrested in Benton County on a Wright County warrant for domestic assault.

Oct. 10, Joshua Ray Whitfield, 19 of Rockford, was arrested in Albertville on the charge of providing false information to police and Wright County warrants for theft and second-degree burglary.

Oct. 11, Tiffany Ann Sundberg, 25 of Maple Lake, was arrested in Buffalo on the charge of false information to police and a Wright County warrant for theft.

Oct. 12, Dakota Rae Bue, 35 of Annandale, was arrested in Clearwater on the charges of domestic assault, obstructing legal process with force, criminal damage to property and trespassing.

There were 23 property-damage accidents, 7 personal-injury accidents, 3 hit-and-run accidents, and
10 car-deer accidents.

There were 3 arrests for DWI,
2 underage-consumption arrests,
1 school bus stop-arm violation, and 51 tickets for miscellaneous traffic violations reported this week.

Monday, Oct. 14, 2013

12:56 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Eden Valley Rescue to a medical at a residence on Co. Rd. 34, Eden Lake Township, Stearns County.

7:51 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to assist the Eden Valley Police Department in attempting to make contact with an individual at the Eden Valley Motel, Meeker Avenue East, Eden Valley.  No contact was made.

1:44 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an order of protection violation at a residence in the Watkins Trailer Park, Watkins. Timothy Albin Dobis, age 49, of Watkins was arrested for violation of a domestic abuse no contact order.

Saturday, October 12

9:53 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office assisted the Meeker County Victims Advocate at a residence in the Watkins Trailer Park, Watkins.

10:33 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office assisted the public at a residence in the Watkins Trailer Park, Watkins.

11:50 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of a violation of an Order for Protection at a residence in the Watkins Trailer Park, City of Watkins.

Friday, October 11

8:52 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to and dispatched Watkins Ambulance to a medical at a residence on 657th Avenue, Forest Prairie Township. One individual was transported to Paynesville Hospital.

9:32 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a report of possible child abuse at a residence on School Avenue South, Watkins.

12:52 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a notice that Meeker County was in a severe Thunderstorm Warning; at 1:10 p.m. the warning was cancelled.

12:55 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a civil issue at a residence on 340th Street, Manannah Township. The deputy spoke to the individual and advised them of their options.

3:12 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a possible Order for Protection Violation at a residence in the Watkins Trailer Park. The deputy checked the residence and there was no violation occurring.

8:01 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence in the Watkins Trailer Park, City of Watkins. Also assisting with the call was the Eden Valley Police Department.

10:19 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of harassment at a residence in the Watkins Trailer Park, City of Watkins.

10:21 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched the Eden Valley Rescue Squad, per the request of the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, for a report of a medical at a residence on MN Highway 22, Eden Lake Township.

10:49 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of a domestic disturbance at a residence in the Watkins Trailer Park, City of Watkins. Also assisting with the call was the Eden Valley Police Department.

Thursday, October 10

11:36 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of welfare fraud at a residence in Manannah Township.

11:44 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched the Watkins Ambulance to a medical at a residence on 350th Street, Forest Prairie Township. One individual was transported to the
St. Cloud Hospital.

9:46 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of suspicious activity at Jack’s BP, Service Road North, Watkins. The vehicles were no longer in the area when the deputy arrived.

Wednesday, October 9

8:23 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to and dispatched the Watkins Ambulance to a medical at a residence on Meeker Avenue North, Watkins. One individual was transported to the St .Cloud Hospital.

10:34 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched the Watkins Ambulance to the Eden Valley Area Medical Clinic on Meeker Avenue East, Eden Valley. One individual was transported to the St Cloud Hospital.

10:36 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a report of possible child abuse at a residence on Church Street North, Eden Valley.

1:26 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to and dispatched Watkins Ambulance to a medical at Mies Outland on West MN Highway 55, Watkins. One individual was transported to the Buffalo Hospital.

1:53 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to and took a report of threats at the ACGC High School on MN Highway 4, Grove City.

3:01 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to and took a report of a burglary at a residence on 233rd Street, Dassel Township.

3:29 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a report of theft at a residence on 355th Street, North Kingston Township.

3:32 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a civil matter at a residence on MN Highway 15, Kingston Township. The deputy spoke to the individual and advised them of their options.

6:33 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Eden Valley Rescue and Watkins Ambulance to a medical at a residence on State Street South, Eden Valley. One individual was transported to the Paynesville Hospital.

8:20 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a trespassing complaint at a residence on Church Street, Watkins. The individual was no longer at the residence by the time the deputy arrived.

9:05 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance to a medical at a residence in the Watkins Trailer Park, Watkins. One individual was transported to the Paynesville Hospital.

Tuesday, October 8

2:36 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a smoldering fire at the City of Watkins compost site just south of MN Hwy. 55,
Watkins. Upon arrival the deputy determined the fire was not a hazard.

11:30 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a southbound driving complaint on MN Highway 15, Kingston Township. The deputy made contact with the driver and issued a citation.

1:07 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office assisted the public at a residence on Church Street, Watkins.

1:24 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a report of harassment at a residence on 373rd Street, Manannah Township.

1:29 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to and dispatched the Watkins Ambulance to a report of a suicide at a residence on Meeker Avenue North, Watkins. The Meeker County Medical Examiner was also called to the scene.

9:05 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of theft at a residence on East William Street, Darwin.

6:26 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a dog complaint at an address on Meeker Avenue North, Watkins. The deputy transported a male Beagle-type dog to the pound.
