Chicken coop fire in Manannah

Monday, Dec. 9, at 4:51 p.m. the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a chicken coop on fire at the address of 34766 587th Avenue, Manannah Township. A Meeker County Deputy and the Eden Valley Fire Department were dispatched to the fire.

The chicken coop was used to house three pet chickens and five pet Canadian geese. The renter of the property, Cheryl Elliott, 53, was able to get two of the geese out of the building before the building became engulfed with fire. She sustained minor burns to her hands while rescuing the two geese, she refused medical treatment.

The fire is believed to have started by heat lamps that were being used inside the chicken coop. The approximate value of the 8’ X 10’ chicken coop and its contents is $5,000, and was a total loss. 

Shed fire in Manannah

Friday, Dec. 6, at 2:59 p.m., the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office and Eden Valley Fire Department responded to a report of a shed on fire at 57230 351 St. in Manannah Township.

The homeowner, Joshua Boyer, age 30, told the deputy that he was warming up a smoker that he was going to use to smoke a turkey. The smoker was located next to a 10x10 shed. He went inside the house while the smoker was warming up and, when he returned outside, he saw that the shed was on fire and he called 911.

The fire destroyed the shed and the contents inside of it. The damage is valued at about $5,000.

No one was injured as a result of the fire.

Wright County Sheriff’s Office

Dec. 3, Michael Anthony Sparks, 38 of Annandale, was arrested in Hennepin County on a Wright County warrant for violation of a no-contact order.

Dec. 5, Camille Jones Foster, 41 of Annandale, was arrested in Annandale on an apprehension and detention order from Wright County.

Dec. 6, Lisa Ann Potter, 48 of Annandale, was arrested in Corinna Township on a Wright County warrant for violation of a no-contact order.

There were 107 property-damage accidents, 6 personal-injury accidents, 4 hit-and-run accidents, and 6 car-deer accidents.

There were 8 arrests for DWI, and 99 tickets for miscellaneous traffic violations reported this week.

12:28 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Eden Valley Rescue Squad, per the request of the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, for a report of a medical at a residence on MN Highway 22, Eden Lake Township.

Sunday, December 8

12:07 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a stalled vehicle near the intersection of MN Highway 22 and County State Aid Highway 3, Manannah Township. The deputy located the vehicle and after investigation arrested the driver Cheryl Ann Elliott, age 53 of Eden Valley, for fourth-degree Driving While Intoxicated and fourth-degree Driving While Intoxicated .08 or More.

8:00 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office, per the request of Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, dispatched Watkins Ambulance for a motor vehicle accident with injuries on MN Highway 55 at Hazel Avenue West, Kimball. One individual was treated at the scene and no transport was needed.

12:47 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a vehicle that had slid off the road from MN Highway 55 near 617th Avenue, Manannah Township. There were no injuries and the information was relayed to the MN State Patrol.

3:10 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of a theft from a residence on Church Street, Watkins.

Saturday, December 7

7:42 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to and issued a deer possession tag at an address on County State Aid Highway 3, Manannah Township.

Friday, December 6

3:56 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Eden Valley Rescue for a medical on State Hwy 22, Eden Lake Township, Stearns County.

11:06 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a cellular 911 transferred call from the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office. The caller had a custody issue at an address north of Watkins in Stearns County. The caller was transferred back to the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office.

9:34 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Eden Valley Rescue Squad and Watkins Ambulance, per the request of the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, for a medical at Church of God Bible Camp on Rolling Acres Drive, Eden Lake Township. One individual was transported to Paynesville Hospital.

11:14 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance for a medical at St Anthony Manor, Church Street, City of Watkins. One individual was transported to St. Cloud Hospital.

Thursday, December 5

7:28 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to an ordinance violation at a residence on Meeker Avenue North, Watkins. The home owner was advised of the violation.

7:55 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a car verses deer accident on CSAH 30, Manannah. There were no injuries reported. The animal was gone upon the deputy’s arrival.

Wednesday, December 4

4:04 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office assisted the MN State Patrol with a school bus in the ditch on MN Highway 24 and 717th Avenue, North Kingston Township.

Tuesday, December 3

7:36 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of a dog complaint at a residence on Cedar Avenue South, Watkins.

4:01 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance to a medical at a residence in Stearns County on North Magnus Johnson Street, Kimball. One individual was transported to St. Cloud Hospital.

4:24 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a cellular 911 hang up call from the area of the Watkins Trailer Park, Watkins. The deputy made contact with the individuals and everything was okay; it was a misdial.

5:37 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a property damage accident with an animal on 360th Street and 595th Avenue, Manannah Township. Upon arrival of the deputy a deer possession tag was issued.

Monday, December 2

9:13 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of an ongoing driving issue in the Watkins and Eden Valley area.  A deputy took the information and informed the party to call when it is happening.

1:59 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched the Watkins Ambulance for a medical at a residence on Hazel Avenue East, Kimball.  One individual was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital.

2:26 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a property damage accident on MN Highway 22, Manannah Township. The call was referred to the MN State Patrol.

2:33 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of vehicle in the ditch on County State Aid Highway 34, Forest Prairie Township. Upon arrival of the deputy a tow truck was already removing the vehicle from the ditch. There was no damage to the vehicle.

3:23 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a property damage accident on MN Highway 55, Forest Prairie Township.  The MN State Patrol handled the call.

6:38 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a welfare check at the St Anthony Manor on Church Street, Watkins. The Meeker County Medical Examiner was also called to the scene and a report will be filed.

8:24 p.m. the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office arrested Noah Hurrle, age 24, of South Haven, on a Meeker County Warrant.

10:16 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of an assault that occurred MN Highway 22 and County State Aid Highway 3, Manannah Township.
