Local crime blotters Feb. 13, 2014

Eden Valley Police blotter

There were 37 calls in January 2014, down from 56 in December. There were 14 miscellaneous calls, 7 public assist calls, 4 alarms, 2 citations, 2 assists to other departments, 2 arrests, and one each of the following: motorist assist, verbal warning, domestic call, accident, dog complaint, and theft.

Snowmobile v. pickup crash

Saturday, Feb. 8, the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, Gold Cross Ambulance and Rockville rescue responded to an accident involving a vehicle and a snowmobile on Evergreen Road near CR 8 in Maine Prairie Township. A 2013 Polaris snowmobile driven by Ron Reitmeier, 38 of Rockville, was traveling south on the state snowmobile trail, approaching Evergreen Road. Reitmeier failed to stop at the road right of way and drove into the side of a Dodge Dakota truck. The truck was driven by Ryan Wimmer, 26, St. Cloud. Reitmeier was treated on scene, complaining only of minor injuries to his shoulder.

 

Shed fire in Lynden Township

At about 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, the Stearns County Sheriff Dispatch Center received a call of a shed on fire at the address of 2004 Daisy Circle in Lynden Township. The Clearwater Fire Department and a Stearns County Deputy Sheriff were dispatched to the fire. A father and daughter were inside the shed at the time the fire broke out but escaped without injuries. The fire is believed to have started near the rear of the shed by a wood furnace. The shed and contents were destroyed in the fire. The Clear Lake Fire Department, St. Augusta Fire Department, and Gold Cross Ambulance also assisted at this incident. The fire departments were on the scene past 11 p.m.

Wright County Sheriff’s Office

Feb. 3, Travis Richard Hickman, 30 of Clearwater, was arrested in Maple Lake on a Wright County warrant for domestic assault.

Feb. 5, Jenna Lea Winter, 30 of Maple Lake, was arrested in Annandale on the charge of disorderly conduct and a Wright County warrant for domestic assault.

Feb. 7, Ronald Roy Worden, 51 of Annandale, was arrested in Annandale on the charges of fifth-degree controlled substance violation and driving after cancellation inimical to public safety.

Feb. 7, Mitch Raymond Helberg, 24 of Annandale, was arrested in Annandale on a Wright County warrant for criminal vehicular operation.

Feb. 9, Nathan Walter Buranen, 22 of Annandale, was arrested in Maple Lake Township on the charges of fifth-degree controlled substance violation and fleeing police on foot.

There were 43 property-damage accidents, 10 personal-injury accidents, and 3 car-deer accidents.

There were 9 arrests for DWI,
2 underage-consumption arrests, and 92 tickets for miscellaneous traffic violations reported this week.

1:53 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to and dispatched Eden Valley Rescue Squad and Watkins Ambulance for a report of a medical at a residence on 617th Avenue, Manannah Township. One individual was transported to Paynesville Hospital.

Sunday, February 9

6:42 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Eden Valley Rescue Squad to a medical at a residence on State
Hwy. 22, Eden Lake Township, Stearns County.

8:21 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of a welfare check at a residence on MN Highway 55, Forest Prairie Township. The person was later located and all was fine.

9:47 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Eden Valley Rescue Squad and Watkins Ambulance to a medical at a residence on North Maple Street, Eden Valley. One individual was transported to the Paynesville Hospital.

12:46 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of theft from a fish house on Lake Ripley.

12:49 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of theft from a fish house on Lake Ripley.

4:28 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Eden Valley Fire Department, per the request of the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, for a report of a car fire at a residence on Crescent View Road, Eden Lake Township, Stearns County.

6:11 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to and dispatched Watkins Ambulance for a report of a medical at a residence in the Watkins Trailer Park, City of Watkins. One individual was transported to Paynesville Hospital.

Saturday, February 8

3:19 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to and dispatched Eden Valley Rescue Squad and Watkins Ambulance for a medical at a residence on State Street South, City of Eden Valley. One individual was transported to St. Cloud Hospital and a report was filed. Also assisting was the Litchfield Police Department.

3:40 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of a medical at a residence on Stearns Avenue North, City of Watkins.

Friday, February 7

2:02 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched Watkins Ambulance to a medical at a residence on Alder Road, Stearns County. The ambulance was canceled a short time later by Stearns County Sheriff’s Office.

8:05 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a person under the influence at a residence in the Watkins Trailer Court, City of Watkins. The deputy made contact with both individuals, mediated the situation, and there were no further issues.

Thursday, February 6

3:31 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of suspicious activity at a residence on 355th Street, Forest Prairie Township. The deputy spoke to the individual and advised them of their options.

Wednesday, February 5

8:39 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office assisted the public with questions at a residence on Central Ave. No. in Watkins. 

12:42 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office arrested Kenneth Lee Lietzau, age 57, of Kimball, for Driving After Cancellation-Inimical to Public Safety while on a traffic stop on MN Highway 55, Watkins.

4:17 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office issued a deer possession tag to an individual for a deer that was hit near the intersection of MN Highway 15 and 325th Street, Kingston Township.

Tuesday, February 4

9:24 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a custody issue at a residence on MN Highway 55, Watkins.

10:53 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a suspicious call that a party received from Hilltop Health Care Center. The deputy checked with the Hilltop Care Center and everything is okay there.

11:20 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a report of possible child abuse at a residence on Glen Road, Watkins.

11:49 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible scam attempt at a residence on 385th Street, Manannah Township. No loss of funds reported.

12:31 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of a scam at a residence on Stearns Avenue North, Watkins.

2:36 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle on County State Aid Highway 19 and County State Aid Highway 27, Kingston. The vehicle was unoccupied and a warning was left on the vehicle to have it removed.

Monday, February 3

9:21 a.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of harassment at the Eden Valley-Watkins High School on Brooks Street North, Eden Valley.

6:38 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of suspicious activity at the ACGC Jr/Sr High School, Grove City.

6:44 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of child abuse at a residence on MN Highway 55, Forest Prairie Township.

7:08 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office took a report of harassment at a residence on 617th Avenue, Manannah Township.

8:46 p.m. the Sheriff’s Office dispatched the Watkins Ambulance to a medical at the Hilltop Health Care Center, Watkins.  One individual was transported to the St. Cloud Hospital.
