Jackie Boulton, 38 of Watkins, was a passenger in a 1997 Ford Ranger driven by her husband Michael, 35. They were heading north on Hwy. 64, northwest of Pillager in central Minnesota.
A south-bound Ford F150, driven by Jeffrey Grose, 43 of Shoreview, crossed the center line, struck the side of a Chevy Silverado and then hit the Boultons head-on, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Jackie was pronounced dead at the scene. Michael was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. He was in surgery Tuesday, so no obituary for Jackie was yet available.
Grose was listed in serious condition after the accident.
The driver of the Chevy Silverado was Daron Butzlaff, 48 of St. Cloud; his passenger was David Butzlaff, 40 of Clearwater; both men had no apparent injury.
The State Patrol report states that alcohol was detected in Grose, but not in Boulton or anyone else involved in the crash. Both men were taken to Lakewood Hospital in Staples.
All four individuals involved in the accident were seatbelted.
The accident occurred just before 2 p.m. Saturday, April 19, in Cass County. The State Patrol, Cass County Sheriff’s Office, and Pillager Police responded to the accident.
Arrangements for Jackie are pending with Ertl Funeral Home in Watkins. Her obituary will be in next week’s Tri-County News, and it will be posted on our website at www.tricountynews.mn as soon as we receive it.
