Wright County Sheriff’s Office Jan. 2, Nathan Walter Buranen, 21 of St. Cloud, was arrested in Annandale on charges of criminal damage to property, trespassing, disorderly conduct and terroristic threats.

Tuesday, Jan. 1, at 3:16 p.m. the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office responded to a personal injury crash at County Road 2 and County Road 4 in St. Wendel Township. When deputies arrived, they learned that a car being driven by Samantha Johnson, age 21, of Minneapolis, was traveling northbound on County Road 2; Johnson failed to yield the right-of-way, and proceded through the intersection. Her car was struck by a car being driven by Chad Fouquette, age 42, of Foley, who was traveling eastbound on County Road 4. Johnson was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital by Gold Cross Ambulance, and treated for non-life threatening injuries. The
Stearns County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by St. Stephen Fire and Rescue.

Sunday, Jan. 6, at approximately 1:30 p.m., the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office, Grove City Rescue, and Paynesville Ambulance responded to a snowmobile accident with injures off of County Road 3 and west of Highway 4 in Union Grove Township.

New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31, at about 8:19 p.m., Stearns County Sheriff’s Office responded to a snowmobile crash near the address of 44322 Hartnette Lake Road in Melrose Township. The caller said that a 33-year-old man from Grey Eagle had struck a tree. He was responsive but having a hard time breathing. The man became unresponsive and CPR was started before emergency responders arrived on the scene.

Minnesota Sheriffs’ Association Scholarship Program for 2012 Sheriff Jeff Norlin of Meeker County announced Friday,
Dec. 28, the winners of the Minnesota Sheriffs’ Association Scholarship Program for 2012. The association awards up to 15 scholarships each year to individuals planning to become Minnesota peace officers. The applicants apply through their local Sheriff’s Office. This year, the Scholarship Committee chose 14 winners out of the broad spectrum of applicants. The Minnesota Sheriff’s Association Scholarship Program, which is promoted by the 87 Sheriffs of Minnesota, is pleased to announce the winner for Meeker County. He is: Mr. Samuel Swisher, of Darwin.
