New ballots were mailed by Dec. 20, 2013, for the Farm Service Agency Local Administrative Area (LAA) # 1 Election. Ballots must be postmarked or turned in at the Stearns County FSA office by Jan. 17. Townships of Brockway, Collegeville, Fairhaven, LeSauk, Luxemburg, Lynden, Maine Prairie, Rockville, St. Augusta,
St. Cloud, St. Joseph, St. Wendel, and Wakefield will elect a new committee person to serve a three-year term. The farmer-elected committee is your voice in USDA’s programs for this area. The candidates are:
Barb and her husband Dale have been farming for 36 years in Maine Prairie Township and have participated in many FSA programs. They are custom-raising heifers after selling their dairy cows three years ago.
Barb is currently serving as the Stearns County Committee Minority Advisor. She has served on the First District Young Coop Board, Adult Farm Management Board and the St. Anne Parish Council. For enjoyment, they take motorcycle trips. This includes making several annual trips around Stearns County to look at crops throughout the growing season.
Barb believes that it is important for women to be informed about FSA programs and understand how these programs can help in a farming operation. Barb would provide input from years of farming experience and serving on other agricultural boards.
Joseph W. Krippner
Joe Krippner and his wife Sherry have two children and farm in Maine Prairie Township. Joe has been farming for 18 years and grows corn, soybeans, small grains and alfalfa.
Joe and Sherry participate in FSA programs and farm using conservation practices. Because Joe works for a local co-op and visits with many local farmers, he believes that he would continue to provide an informed voice to the Stearns County Committee.
Joe is currently serving as a Chairman of the Stearns County Committee.
