We should be well into the spring season of sports: baseball, softball, golf, and track & field. A few indoor meets have been held, but ballfields and golf courses are still covered with snow and mud. Many games have been postponed and are being made up later in the season. Some, especially non-conference games, have been cancelled and are not being made up.
We’ve done our best to keep up with all the changes and cancellations in our sports schedule on page 24. Be sure to check each school’s website for the latest schedules. We’re itching for sports to get started, too.
SPRING WILL COME!
Sophomore and captain Quinten Berres was honored at the wrestling banquet for his many accomplishments this year. Quinten reached the ultimate goal of State Champion in Class A at 126
pounds with a 39 - 1 record. He was named Most Valuable Wrestler, All Conference First Team, he reached his 100th career win this year, named to the KDUZ All Area Team, and MWCA All State. He was awarded CMC Athlete of the Week after dominating his competition at the State Tournament. He is a 3-time state entrant, 3-time place winner. Quinten is the youngest Kimball wrestler to be State Champion.
Thursday, April 4, the Kimball wrestlers, coaches, and families came together for a banquet and award ceremony to celebrate the many accomplishments of this
year’s CMC Conference Champion Team. They were Section 5A Runners-up this year. The team used a record 27 kids on varsity to compile 344 individual wins. Finishing with a 21-13 overall record. Kimball is very proud of this team and their performances under the tough schedule and all the adversities they went through. Great Job! The Kimball boys’ basketball program recently held their end-season banquet at Kimball Area High School. A potluck meal was served for the players, managers and their parents and the coaching staff. Awards were also handed out, as coaches reflected on their seasons.
