Kimball grapplers take 1 of 2

Celebrating parents’ night and alumni night, the Kimball wrestlers invited Pierz and Rockford to the party on Thursday, Jan. 30. The Cubs, like so many others in the past, fell to the ninth-ranked and undefeated (19-0) Pioneers, 51-18. At W-Wrestling-MattDonnay-pin-at-152-lbs126 pounds, Kimball’s Blane Tschida, ranked second in the state, beat sixth-ranked Chris Ortman, 8-3. Kimball’s Quinten Berres, who is ranked No.1, won by pin at 132 pounds. Brady Mehr, 138 lbs., was victorious by decision. Tschida and Berres both went 2-0, as did Kimball senior Austin Scheifelbein at 220 pounds.


Seventh-grade Kimball boys basketball show well

W-Kimball-7th-Grade-Boys-BB-IMG 3044Saturday, Jan. 25, the Kimball seventh-grade boys traveled to Olivia for a tournament. The team lost its first match to BOLD, then beat New Ulm and B-B-E to take fifth place in the

Kimball wrestlers face EV-W

The Kimball wrestling squad met up with Eden Valley-Watkins Saturday, Feb. 1, at Kimball in a makeup match from Jan. 7. The Cubs were tough and ag

Michael Donnay, Blane Tschida, Quinten Berres, and Matt Donnay, each earned pins in the contest. “We had another good week for wrestling. We had three Central Minnesota Conference matches and we went 2-1, beating Rockford and Eden Valley-Watkins; and losing to ninth-ranked Pierz. We continue to wrestle well as the end of the season comes near,” coach Mike Schindler said. Blane Tschida, Quinten Berres, and Austin Schiefelbein continue to lead the team and all went 3-0 this week with Quinten picking up his 150th career win.
Wednesday is the team seeding meeting for the section tournament. Thursday, the Cubs travel to Long Prairie-Grey Eagle to take on the host school along with Minnewaska, and Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted. Then wrapping up on Friday, Kimball goes to the Albany Individual Tournament.


Kimball grapplers find road trip lucrative

The Kimball wrestlers had a good week on the road, picking up a 42-30 victory at Holdingford Tuesday, Jan. 21, followed by a 44-26 win at Belgrade-Brooten-
Elrosa, Thursday, Jan. 23.

Kimball wrestlers show well at tough Fergus Invite

Capping off a very busy week, the Kimball wrestling squad, competing for the third time in five days, accepted an invitation to the Fergus Falls Pudge Anderson Memorial Tournament, Saturday, Jan. 25. The Cubs lost to Bismarck Century in the quarterfinals, 45-24. In the consolation finals, Kimball overtook Thief River Falls, 46-31. The fifth-place match saw the Cubs prevail over a very worthy opponent in Wahpeton, 38-30. The Championship Match was won by an extremely powerful Apple Valley team, 64-3, over West Fargo.

Alumni/Parents/Senior Night

The KAHS alumni/parents/senior recognition night has been rescheduled to 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30. Kimball will participate in a dual against Pierz at 6 p.m. and Rockford at 7:30 p.m. All alumni and parents should plan to be there by 5:30.
