Halloween Historia, family fun event

Looking for a fun and safe Halloween event to enjoy with your family? The Stearns History Museum presents Halloween Historia, the biggest Halloween family event in St. Cloud. Halloween Historia is a non-scary event that will bring smiles to your family member’s faces. Go on a Halloween scavenger hunt in the exhibit gallery, take a hayride in the park, ride the pony carousel, trick-or-treat, visit the candy witch, and much more.

Join us at the Stearns History Museum at 235 33rd Ave South in Heritage Regional Park from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26. The building is decorated for Halloween so wear your costumes and bring your camera for great family photos. Concessions will be available at an additional cost and the event is peanut-free. Halloween Historia will not be cancelled because of rain or snow, please wear appropriate attire for outdoor activities.

Jr. Auxiliary Halloween party Oct. 26


The Junior Auxiliary of the American Legion will have their annual Kids Halloween Party at 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26.

This will be at the Kimball American Legion Post 261. Tim Diffley will provide music. There will be games, tattoos, prizes, candy, refreshments and snacks. This if free of charge, and there will be drawings for prizes and fun for all. Wear your costumes.

Rock hunting in Central Minnesota


Join us at the Stearns History Museum at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 21, to hear Lyndon D. Johnson tell stories of rock collecting, the history of agates, and receive tips for the beginner “rock hound.” The Museum Store has Johnson’s book and small agates available for purchase. This event is free to members, non-members $5.

 

Kingston American Legion and Auxiliary met Sept. 24

The Kingston Johnson Kelly American Legion Post 483, and Kingston Johnson Kelly American Legion Auxiliary met Tuesday evening, Sept. 24, 2013, for their regular monthly meetings. Auxiliary president Micki Turja called the meeting to order with Rose Olson, secretary, reading the minutes of the last meeting, and taking roll call with 28 auxiliary members present. Prayers were led by chaplain Chris Jeppesen.

The American Legion members joined the auxiliary members for the opening program. All members repeated the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag, sang the Star Spangled Banner, and they repeated the Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion and Auxiliary.

Separate business meetings were then held.

In memory of our auxiliary members Dorothy Jensen and Opal Hedlund, president Micki Turja draped the auxiliary charter, and held a memorial service in their honor with prayers by chaplain Chris Jeppesen.

EV Library has handouts about MNSURE

Eden Valley Area Library has informational handouts about the new MNSURE health care. An informational video is also available to watch via computer. Eden Valley Area Library has three computers available for patrons use if you don’t have one available to you. To access the information, go to: mnsure.org, there is a two-minute video to watch. Librarians will not give advice – but can help patrons access the information on the computers.

New Eden Valley Area Library hours are: Tuesdays and Thursdays 3 p.m.-6 p.m., Wednesdays noon-3 p.m., Fridays 5:30-8 p.m., Saturdays 9 a.m.-noon.
