Two honored for years of driving kids to school

At Awards Day at Kimball Area High School, Wednesday, May 1, two Kimball school bus drivers were honored for their W-100 0104many years of driving our children to and from school. Joanne Hendricks, on the left, has driven 40+ years. Dean Mozena, on the right was given appreciation for his 55 years of faithful driving. They are still going strong, and the community joins in saying thanks for all these years of safety and caring. Submitted photo.



KAHS students exhibit at Region 5A

Wednesday, May 1, New London Spicer hosted the 12th Annual Minnesota State High School League Region 5A Visual Arts Festival. Kimball Area High School took a team of six students to participate: seniors Malina Röttgermann, Kyleigh W-art contestEisenbraun, Alissa Jones, Hannah Zipoy, Ashley Angier and sophomore Josh Miller. In Drawing, Kyleigh Eisenbraun and Hannah Zipoy each earned a State Superior rating. In Mixed Media, Hannah Zipoy and Alissa Jones earned State Excellents.


Elene leaves for home in Georgian Republic

Elene Loliashvili is an exchange student at KAHS from the Republic of Georgia. She has been staying with Nancy Bonnifield and family since September. Pictures shown are Elene receiving a “letter” for choir, and State Superior awards for solo/ensemble contest. She will be returning to Georgia Wednesday, May 15. We have all enjoyed knowing her and hope to see her again.


KAHS Senior Choir concert May 19

The Kimball Senior Choir will present its spring concert Sunday evening, May 19. It will be held in the Cafetorium at the high school. Many soloists will be featured in this concert. Mrs. Sands said, “The quality of these voices is so amazing, if they asked to sing a solo, I have to give them the opportunity to perform.”  “You may hear their C.D.’s some day”.

Selections are from “The Phantom of the Opera,” “Les Miserable,” “Fiddler on the Roof,” and others. The State Superior award winning choir will perform “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” which they will be seeing at the Chanhassen Dinner Theater Wednesday, May 22. Much thanks to the “Boosters” for providing funds for the transportation.

The choir is under the direction of Arlene Sands who will be in her 30th year as District Vocal Music Specialist at Kimball.

The public is cordially invited to attend this free night of entertainment.

KAHS Spring Band Concert

Monday, May 20, the KAHS Fine Arts Dept. will present a Spring Band Concert and Art Show. The concert will begin at 8 p.m in the North Gym at KAHS and art work will be on display in the halls before and after the concert. The concert will include the Elementary, Junior High, Senior High, and Jazz Bands, and will include a wide variety of music ranging from jazz and rock to show tunes to classic contemporary band literature. There will be a reception following the concert for all attendees. The concert is free and open to the public. Please join us as we are (finally) able to celebrate spring with music!
