Two facilities recognized for work in area of food safety
A Sauk Centre restaurant and a Richmond school have received Stearns County’s 2012 Food Safety Awards.
Every year, Stearns County’s Environmental Services Department presents a food safety award to one school and one restaurant in the County. The awards are presented to those establishments that do an excellent job promoting food safety year after year.
Jitter’s Java Café in Sauk Centre was selected to receive the 2012 Food Safety Award in the restaurant category. Owners Kathy and Tom Oschwald accepted the award during the Stearns County Board of Commissioners meeting.
Richmond Elementary School was selected to receive the 2012 Food Safety Award in the school category. Head Cook, Irene Worm, accepted the award on behalf of the school.
Both establishments received a plaque recognizing their accomplishment and formal recognition by the Board of Commissioners.
Stearns County’s Environmental Services Department is responsible for inspections of restaurants located within the county.
The Food Safety Awards have been presented annually, beginning in 2003.
