A Veterans Day program will be presented at Kimball Area High School, in the Wirth gym, from 10-11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11. A slide show will feature local veterans. St. Cloud Hospital
St. Cloud Hospital will honor men and women for military service during a special ceremony from 10-11 a.m. Monday,
Nov. 11, in Hoppe Auditorium. Family members, patients and employees are invited to honor our American heroes, including veterans, active military, reservists and National Guard.
District 18 legislators are conducting a Town Hall meeting at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 5, to receive input regarding a pending vote on whether to unionize childcare providers in Minnesota.
Sen. Scott Newman, R-Hutch-inson, Rep. Dean Urdahl, R-Acton Township, and Rep. Glenn Gruenhagen, R-Glencoe, will host the event. They will be joined by Hollee Saville, a childcare provider from St. Michael, Minn., who has led efforts opposing the childcare unionization effort.

U.S. Sen. Al Franken’s (D-Minn.) office is now accepting applications from young Minnesotans interested in attending one of the nation’s four military service academies, including the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. In order to attend a service academy, candidates must be nominated by a member of Congress. Applications are due by
5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1.
“Each year, I’m proud to nominate several talented Minnesotans to our four U.S. Military Service Academies,” said Sen. Franken. “I’m happy to assist eligible Minnesotans in the nomination process, and I look forward to helping our future leaders seek admission to these prestigious academies.”
Taking care of the Veteran you love can be an incredibly demanding job. In the spirit of honoring those family caregivers of our nation’s heroes, the St. Cloud VA Health Care System will host a Celebration of Caregivers Event from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, in the Auditorium (Bldg. 8) on the St. Cloud VA Medical Center campus, located at 4801 Veterans Drive in St. Cloud.
VA provides a number of services to support and educate caregivers of veterans. Attendees can learn about these services, network with other caregivers of veterans, and discover tips for self-care.
If you live within city limits, you can run for city council in either Eden Valley or Kimball.
