The lights are on and the pumps are open at the Kingston Mini Mart – after a few years’ absence.
New owners Jim and Kristie Orn have gutted and completely re-done the interior. When spring finally arrives, they’ll be able to paint the outside.
Either Jim or Kristie, or their son Kody or his girlfriend Megan Mackereth are likely the ones to greet you at the door with a big smile.
The new-and-improved Mini Mart offers frozen foods and dairy, bread and packaged baked goods, and assorted groceries. In the back, they have fresh coffee and capuccino, hotdogs and nachos, and microwaveable sandwiches.
The gas pumps are open
24 hours a day, selling regular, diesel, and non-oxygenated premium gas.
When weather warms up, they plan to add a picnic table outside for those passing through on motorcycle who might like to stop for a bit.
They don’t have plans yet for the riverside building in back (at the left of the photo above), but they’re open to suggestions and ideas.
A May 18 grand opening is being planned for the new Kingston Mini Mart.
Hours are Mondays-Fridays
6 a.m.-9 p.m., and 7 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
Jim and Kristie Orn purchased the building that has been abandoned for a few years. They’ve worked long and hard to completely refurbish it. They opened April 4. They are open daily, and are planning a grand opening May 18. Staff photo by Jean Doran Matua.
