Cold Spring Maennerchor hosts event

featuring 250 singers at SJU Abbey

The Cold Spring Area Maennerchor, a male chorus which is comprised of more than 40 members from all over the greater Cold Spring area, is hosting The Big Sing, “O Come Let Us Sing” is theme for this year’s event which is to be performed at the St. John’s University Abbey Church Saturday, April 26, at 7 p.m. More than 250 male voices will join to bring you some of the greatest music you’ll hear in the Central MN region.

Tickets for the 2014 Big Sing will be on sale every Wednesday evening in front of the ROCORI High School Auditorium from 7-9 p.m.

Since 1981, the Cold Spring Area Maennerchor has been a member of the Associated Male Choruses of America (AMCA) which is a national organization of male choruses and the Maennerchor is a part of the Upper Midwest District of the AMCA involving choirs from such places as Staples, Grand Rapids, Rochester, Jamestown, N.D., Eau Claire, Wis., and many other cities. Each year a different choir plays host to this weekend-long event where the concert Saturday night is the main event open to the public. The Maennerchor hosted this event in 2007 at the same location. The concert includes many numbers by the massed choruses singing together and several solo pieces by select choirs.
