David Gothier of South Haven died Monday, Oct. 1, 2012. He was 51.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Kimball with Rev. Dave Milz officiating. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Annandale, and at the church one hour prior to services Friday. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel.
David William Gothier was born Dec. 30, 1960, in Minneapolis to William E. and Margaret E. (Gillespie) Gothier. He graduated from Kimball Area High School in 1978. He married Patty Smith Sept. 28, 2007. He has worked for Malco Products in Annandale for 35 years, currently as Plant Superintendent. He was a member of the Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians. David enjoyed fishing, golfing, shooting pool, playing cards ("Davey Vegas"), all sports, especially the Minnesota Vikings, and the outdoors. His warmth and humor will always be deeply remembered by all his family and friends.
David was preceded in death by his mother Margaret, brother Gary, nephew Christopher, and father-in-law Sherrill Smith
He is survived by his wife Patty of South Haven; father William Gothier of Yountville, Calif.; daughter Alicia Gothier of California; step-daughters Michelle (and Clyde) Marquette of South Haven, and Amanda Wittenberg of South Haven; mother-in-law Eva Smith of Kimball; brothers and sisters Gregory (and Irene) of St. Cloud, Susan (and Curt) Odden of Clear Lake, Lisa (and Scott) Holen of Watertown, Patty (and Troy) Veitenheimer of Bloomington, Rick of St. Cloud, Mike of St. Cloud, Tom of St. Cloud, Tim (and Jen) of Fergus Falls, Robert of St. Cloud. David adored his four grandsons, Adam, Levi, Nathan and Ethan Marquette.
Pallbearers will be Mitchell, Mathew, Adam and Rick Gothier, Jeff Smith, and Clyde Marquette. Terry Smith will be an honorary pallbearer. Music for the service will be provided by Lynn Hoff and Jenny Wudtke.
