Ella Leanhart of Clearwater died Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at her home. She was 87.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 30, at Concordia Lutheran Church in Fair Haven with Rev. Timothy Nerud officiating. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Annandale, and one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will follow at Concordia Lutheran Cemetery.
Ella Elsa Leanhart was born Sept. 26, 1925, in Fair Haven Township, Stearns County, to Henry and Elsa (Schwartz) Gehrke. She was baptized, instructed in the Lutheran faith, and confirmed Dec. 7, 1941, at Concordia Lutheran Church where she was a life-long member. She married Wendell J. Leanhart July 14, 1948, at Perry, Iowa, and he preceded her in death Feb. 28, 2000. She worked at T & O Plastics in Clearwater, and was a homemaker. She enjoyed her garden and time spent with her family and friends.
Ella was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers Alfred and Vern Gehrke, and sister Leona Rose.
She is survived by children Carol (and Emery) Schmidt of Fair Haven, Brenda Leanhart (and Mike Stewart) of Belmont, Calif., Marvin of St. Cloud; two grandchildren Robin (and Bob) Stein of Kimball, and Ryan Tadych of Clearwater; four great-grandchildren Natalie and Zachary Stein, Billy and Emily Tadych; sisters Erma Beck of Clear lake, and Dorothy (and Walter) Burton of Rice.
The pallbearers will be Leroy Rose, Bill Beck, Allen Fahsl, Alfred Gehrke Jr., Leon Gehrke, and Laland Gehrke. The organist will be Lynn Hoff. Arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.
