James Schreifels of Pearl Lake/Kimball died Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at his home with family by his side, after a year-long battle with kidney cancer. He was 50.
Mass of Christian Burial celebrating his life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 18, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in St. Joseph
with Reverend Jerome Tupa, OSB officiating. Visitation will be from 4-9 p.m. Friday, May 19, and after 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Joseph. Parish prayers will be at 4 p.m. Friday at the Funeral Home.
James R. Schreifels was born Jan. 10, 1963, in St. Cloud to Richard E. and Virginia (Bauer) Schreifels. He graduated from St. Cloud Technical High School in 1981, and from St. Cloud Technical College with a degree in Water Treatment and Business Management. He was president and owner of Schreifels Water Works, operating for 20 plus years. Jim was united in marriage to Kati Ostendorf May 10, 2013, at their home on the lake.
Jim loved spending time with his 8-year old son Brayden. They enjoyed fishing and being out on the pontoon together. Jim was an avid hunter who enjoyed the outdoors, playing softball and spending time at the cabin. Jim will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor.
Jim was preceded in death by his father Richard E. Schreifels; grandparents Ben and Isabelle Schreifels, Math and Marcella Bauer; and step-grandmother Alvina Bauer.
He is survived by his wife Kati; their son Brayden of Pearl Lake; his mother Ginny Schreifels of St. Cloud; brothers and sister Gordy (and Jolaine) of Pearl Lake, Randy (and Roseann) of Clearwater, Dean (and Denise) of Lakeville, Judy (and Greg) Flint of Richmond; father-in-law and mother-in-law Gary and Cheryl Ostendorf; sister-in-law Kristi Ostendorf; and 12 nieces and nephews.
Memorials are preferred.
