Raymond Voigt of Nevis, formerly of St. Augusta, died Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at St. Benedict's Senior Community. He was 85.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 24, at St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in St. Augusta with Rev. Duane Pribula, Rev. Lloyd Haupt, and Deacon Kenneth Rosha con-celebrants. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, May 23, and after 10 a.m. Friday, May 24, at the St. Mary Help of Christians Parish Center in St. Augusta.
Raymond H. Voigt was born June 4, 1927, in St. Augusta to Albert and Trecia (Schill) Voigt. He grew up in St. Augusta. Ray was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He married Donna M. Tresco Aug. 9, 1947, at St. Mary's Cathedral in St. Cloud. Ray owned and operated the Sanitary Market in St. Cloud; later he was employed as produce manager for Del Farm until he retired in 1976. After his retirement he built a home on Lake Belle Taine in Nevis. He was a member of Our Lady of the Pines Parish, Nevis Trail Blazers Snowmobile Club, and life member of the Park Rapids American Legion Post #212.
Ray enjoyed snowmobiling, gardening and woodworking. His favorite pastime was sitting on the deck overlooking the lake.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Art, Len, Frank and Elmer; sisters Florence Koenig, Sadie Voigt, Alvina Fruth, and Irene Lommel.
He is survived by his wife Donna; children Michael (and Candy) Voigt of Cold Spring, James (and Jackie) Voigt of St. Cloud, Loni (and Julie) Voigt of Buffalo, and Tom Voigt of Park Rapids; eight grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Bernice Voigt, Betty Voigt, Hilda Voigt, and Vera Kutzera.
Arrangements were by Daniel Funeral Homes in St. Cloud. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
