Maynard Lommel died peacefully at his home Wednesday, May 29, 2013, surrounded by his family after battling cancer. He was 80.
Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2013, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Pearl Lake (Marty). Concelebrants were Fr. Mark Ostendorf and Fr. Ralph Zimmerman. Visitation was from 8:30 to 10:15 a.m. in the church. Burial was in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
Maynard D. Lommel was born June 14, 1932, to Raymond and Florence (Eversman) Lommel in St. Cloud. After graduation from St. Cloud Technical High School, he served two years in the U.S. Army. Maynard worked at Great Northern Railroad and for 33 years at the St. Cloud Hospital as director of purchasing. He was united in marriage to Lenore M. Loesch Aug. 31, 1957. Together they raised four wonderful children. Maynard loved antiquing with his aunt Martha, drawing plans for his next big project, going north to the cabin and spending time with friends and family. He also took pride in his flowers and loved to care for his lawn and garden.
Maynard was preceded in death by his parents; and son Gordon Lommel.
He is survived by his loving wife Lenore; children David (and Bonnie) Lommel, Jeneen (and Dale) Albers, Warren (and Lenor “Lenny”) Lommel; grandchildren Ashley and Cody Lommel, Amy (and Mike Blaskowski, Gina (and Jason) Libbesmeier, Katlin, James, and Weston Albers; great-grandchildren Riley Albers, Taylor, Elliana, and Eli Libbesmeier, Eva Blaskowski, Madilyn Albers, and Calfin Knaus.
