Arnold King of South Haven, formerly of Corcoran, died Friday, June 21, 2013, at Quiet Oaks Hospice. He was 85.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Kimball with Rev. Victor Dorn officiating. Burial will follow in the Kimball Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
Arnold August King was born Aug. 14, 1927, in Epiphany, S.D., to Louis and Veda (Mashino) King. He served his country in the U.S. Army. He married Alma Zimmerman March 7, 1953, at Zion Lutheran Church in St. Paul. He owned and operated King Oil, King Trucking, and King Farm. Arnold enjoyed farming, flying, and fishing. He was a hard-working man and was handy with everything that he undertook.
Arnold was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Warren, Clifford, Marvin, Orlin and Norman King; and sisters June Young and Geraldine Peterson.
He is survived by his wife Alma; children Arnold Jr. "Arnie" King of South Haven, Alan (and Suzie) King of Cambridge, Andrew King of Robbinsdale, Alvin (and Paula) King of Cloquet, Mary Ellen (and Lee) Nelson of Lakewood, Colo., and Art (and Barb) King of Mound; sisters Jean (and Jim) Graves of Nampa, Idaho, Janette (and Elmer) Addler of Alamo, Texas, Joyce Foss of Mesa, Ariz., Judy Brombereck of Iola, Wis., and Joanne Thomas; 10 grandchildren: Daniel, Phillip, James, Randy, Jake, Kathy, Kristy, Dwayne, Cora and Dawn; 13 great-grandchildren: Joshua, Nathan, Samuel, Noah, Maylia, Bentley, Jennifer, Darrel Jr., Destiny, Ericia, Rachel, Aubrey and Rylan.
Pallbearers for the service will be his grandsons Daniel, Phillip, James, Randy and Jake King, and Dwayne Horseman. Jake and Sara King and Lori Rippentrop will provide music for the service. Military Honors will be provided by the Minnesota Army National Guard Honor Guard and the Kimball American Legion Post 261. Memorials are preferred to the cancer research organization of the donor's choice. Arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Kimball.
