Marlene Jensen of Waseca died Friday, July 12, 2013, at the Lakeshore Inn Nursing Home following a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was 64.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca with Rev. Paige Whitney and Rev. Nancy Hansen officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Monday, July 15, at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca, and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday.
Marlene Ann Jensen was born April 19, 1949, in St. Cloud to Carl and Helen (Tammen) Folkerts. Growing up, she attended school in Annandale, and later earned her degree from St. Cloud State University. Nov. 28, 1970, Marlene married her high school sweetheart Dan Jensen. Together they lived and worked in Benson from 1972 until 1981, when they moved to Waseca. Marlene worked as a speech clinician for almost 35 years. She enjoyed reading, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren. She also volunteered at Hansel & Gretel Preschool, for the Lutheran Brotherhood, and played in the Grace Lutheran Bell Choir, and served on the Grace Lutheran Church Council. Recently, Marlene was attending North Waseca Lutheran Church. She will be fondly remembered by many friends in both congregations.
Marlene was preceded in death by her parents and one aunt Louise Tammen.
She is survived by her husband Dan of Waseca; two sons Michael (and Melissa) Jensen of Hastings, Matt (and Amy Littel) Jensen of Sioux Falls, S.D.; four grandchildren Thomas and Anna Jensen, and Emma and Curran Littel-Jensen; and one sister Lori (and Dr. Ken) Carter of Granite Falls.
