David “Dave” Loch formerly of Watkins died Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at North Memorial Hospice Unit in Minneapolis. He was
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 22, at Assumption Catholic Church in Eden Valley with Rev. Jerome Naduvathaniyil, OSB officiating. Friends and relatives may call from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Eden Valley, and also after 9 a.m. Monday morning at the funeral home. Parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in Eden Valley. Burial will be with military honors at the parish cemetery.
David Martin Loch was born July 27, 1940, on the family farm in Watkins to Philip and Laura (Arnold) Loch. He attended St. John’s Preparatory School from 1954 to 1957, and graduated from Eden Valley High School in 1958. He served his country from 1963 to 1965 in the U.S. Army, and was honorably discharged. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in mechanical engineering, and was employed by NSP/Xcel Energy until his retirement in 2003. Upon retirement, Dave continued to operate the family farm with his brother Joe until his death, and also owned and managed several rental properties. Dave’s favorite thing to do was to spend time with his family. He had a passion for farming and tending his cattle. He loved fishing, especially during his trips to Alaska, was an avid reader, and enthusiastic sports fan.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents; brother Roger; sister Marie; and nephew Bobby.
He is survived by brothers and sisters Bob (and Katie) of St. Cloud, Judy of St. Cloud, Phil of Sartell, Joe of Brooklyn Center, Cathy (and Joe) Bengtson of Avon, Alan of Watkins, Louise of St. Cloud, and Mark (and Joan) of St. Joseph; 16 nieces and nephews; and 17 great-nieces and great-nephews.
