Barb Bobendrier of Watkins died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013, at her home following a long battle with cancer. She was 77.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 22, at the Ertl Funeral Home in Watkins with Pastor Joseph Midthun officiating. Friends may gather from 12-2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Private inurnment will take place at the Otsego Cemetery at a later date.
Barb Bobendrier was born May 13, 1936, in Minneapolis to Robert and Myrtle (Schlend) Norcross. She was united in marriage Oct. 3, 1953, to Harold “Guy” Bobendrier. They owned and operated B & F Container Service in Minneapolis for 15 years. They moved to Watkins 35 years ago and Barb had been employed at Manhattan Toys in Eden Valley.
Barb was a charter member of the Watkins Lioness Club and worked with the Little Miss Watkins Pageant for 20 years, and also helped with the Lions’ charitable gambling. She had been secretary/treasurer of the Watkins Chamber of Commerce for 20 years and helped organize the Watkins Centennial celebration. She was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary, and was currently secretary of the Clear Lake Property Owners Association. Barb had many interests including cooking and canning, and she enjoyed going to the casino and entertaining on the holidays.
Barb was preceded in death by an infant son Larry; her father Robert Norcross; and brother Dean Norcross.
She is survived by her husband Harold “Guy” Bobendrier of Watkins; children Bonnie Ertl of Litchfield, Gus Bobendrier of Watkins; grandchildren Tanya (and Craig) Reinert of Watkins, Caleb (and Becky) Herzog of Dassel; great-grandchildren Gina, Grant, Gabriel, and Clayton; mother Myrtle Daniels of Minneapolis; brothers Bob Norcross of Golden Valley, Dick Norcross of Minneapolis, and Wayne Norcross of Texas.
