Beulah “Boo” Worcester of Stillwater, Okla., died Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at Grace Living Center in Stillwater, after a long illness. She was 78.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, Nov. 20, at New Beginnings Alliance Church in Stillwater, Okla.
Beulah Ilene (Vannurden) Worcester was born Sept. 5, 1935, in Kimball to George and Lillie (Olson) Vannurden, the 15th of 16 children. She attended local schools in Kimball, graduating from Kimball High School in 1953. She attended Minnesota Bible College, graduating with a two-year certificate in business. While attending MBC, she met her husband Oakley Leonne Worcester, and they were married Dec. 16, 1956. Leonne and Boo had four children. Boo worked in many jobs, however, her favorite role was a pastor’s wife working tirelessly alongside her husband in many churches in Kansas, Minnesota, Colorado, and Oklahoma. During the years of serving with Leonne, Boo developed numerous curriculums for Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and Women’s Bible Study. She enjoyed cooking and baking, spending years teaching 4-H youth how to bake cinnamon tea rings and many other baked goods. She could also sew any garment by looking at a picture and figuring out the pattern as evidenced by the wedding garments for Becky and Quinn’s wedding. As the grandchildren graduated from high school, it was her joy to make a quilt for each one of them. Nana’s house was the gathering place for every opportunity to have a party or holiday. She loved having all of her children and grandchildren, and spoiling every grandchild and great-grandchild.
Boo was preceded in death by parents George and Lillie Vannurden; and siblings Bernard Vannurden, Carrie Stelton, Lelan Vannurden, James Vannurden, Walter Vannurden, Dennis Vannurden, Leona Meyers, Betsy Stelton, Aciel Vannurden, Harland Vannurden, and Vera Mae Donnay.
She is survived by her husband Leonne of Stillwater, Okla.; children Becky (and Quinn) Schipper of Stillwater, Okla., Cindy (and Darrel) Boyd of Abu Dhabi, Barry (and Pam) of Healdton, Okla., and Joseph (and Tamara) of Great Bend, Kan.; 13 grandchildren Anna Thompson, Sarah Asebedo, Ben Worcester, Rachel Ahlmann, Andrew Worcester, Adam Worcester, Josiah Worcester, Skylar Schipper, Isaiah Dowds, Jacob Worcester, Hannah Worcester, Rebekah Worcester, and Lily Worcester; 10 great-grandchildren Kayden Worcester, Julian Asebedo, William Thompson, Caleb Ahlmann, Abigail Asebedo, Amity Worcester, Harley Worcester, Noah Dowds, Elizabeth Ahlmann, and Nora Thompson; brother Tom Vannurden of Rome, Ga.; and sisters Blanche (twin) (and Allen) Miller of Fair Haven, Rose Ann Donnay of Kimball, and Loretta (and Maynard) Olson of New Hope.
