Jason Ruhland of Plainview, Texas, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014. He was 39.
The funeral will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Plainview, Texas, at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10. The Rosary will be held at St. Alice Parish in Plainview at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Assumption Catholic Church in Eden Valley at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, with a prayer service at 6 p.m., and visitation will continue at 8:30 a.m. before the service Saturday, all at the church. Burial will follow the Mass.
Jason Lawrence Ruhland was born in St. Cloud Jan. 8, 1974, to Larry and Barb Ruhland. Jason graduated from Eden Valley-Watkins High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Agronomy from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls in 1996. He married Misty (Webb) Ruhland Aug. 19, 2001. Jason was a larger than life character with a big smile and deep laugh. He was a generous leader, loving father, patient husband, wise son, adventurous brother, hardworking, and dedicated generous man. He worked diligently to support his family and loved seeing his kids grow, smile and laugh. Jason loved to make his family and friends feel welcomed and loved. He did this through his culinary skills, listening, laughing, and telling stories. He enjoyed nature and was an avid hunter. He also loved football from Texas Tech Raiders to Texas A & M Aggies to North Dakota State Bison. Jason was a vibrant fan.
Jason is survived by his wife Misty; four children Madison, Megan, Jonathan, and Mallory all of Plainview, Texas. He is also survived by his mother Barb Ruhland of Watkins; his siblings Tina (and Matt) Honsey, Craig (and Jessica) Ruhland, Eric (and Mya Honeywell) Ruhland, and Kevin (and Kelsey) Ruhland. Jason will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
