Walter Schneider of Marty (Pearl Lake) died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at Assumption Nursing Home surrounded by his family. He was 91.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Pearl lake (Marty). Relatives and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 3, at the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring. Parish prayers will be at 4 p.m. Visitation will continue from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday morning at the funeral home. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Walter C. Schneider was born in Marty, Minn., to Henry and Susan (Garding) Schneider. He married Evelyn Loesch May 29, 1947, in Holy Cross Catholic Church in Marty. Walter had a dairy farm south of Pearl Lake. He enjoyed raising draft horses, participating in parades, playing cards, dancing, baseball and traveling. Walter especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a member of Catholic United Financial, Pearl Lake Men’s Society, and Holy Cross Church Trustees.
Walter was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn; brothers and sisters Mark Schneider (twin brother), Clara (and George) Erpelding, Alma Schneider; sister-in-law Caroline Isaacson; brothers-in-law Leo Loesch and Claude (and Alice) Loesch.
He is survived by his children Larry (and Julie) Schneider, Margaret Chopp, Kathryn Stang; brothers and sisters Rose Loesch, Al (and Olga) Schneider, Martha Schneider; brother-in-law Don Isaacson; grandchildren Mike (and Sara), Dan (and Stacie), Dave (and Katie), Nic (and Chrissy), Nate (and Stephanie), Bill, Maddee; and great-grandchildren Olivia, Hailey, Landon, Camran, Sophie, Savannah, and Chloe.
Memorials are preferred to Rice Hospice, Holy Cross School, and Assumption Nursing Home.
Arrangements are with the Wenner Funeral Home in Cold Spring.
