Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Annandale with Rev. Dave Nelson officiating. Kristina Paige Steffen was born Oct. 21, 1994, in Bryansk, Russia. Kristina and her brother Alex were adopted April 20, 2004, and they joined parents Rick and Lori Steffen in Annandale.
Kristina was a senior at Annandale High School and attended St. Cloud State University through PSEO. She was a server at Triple R Grill and Bar in Kimball. She also worked as a dietary aide at Parkview Care Center. After high school and college, Kristina looked forward to getting married and starting a family. Her dream was to work as a social worker in child protection and advocacy, to protect children who experienced similar early childhood difficulties such as she did. She wanted to make a difference.
Kristina could make friends quickly, and her contagious smile and laugh were just two of the many qualities people loved about her. Above all, Kristina treasured time spent with family and friends.
Kristina was preceded in death by infant twin siblings Joseph and Grace Ann Steffen, and by great-grandmother Irma Uecker.
She is survived by her parents Rick and Lori Steffen of Annandale, brother Alex of Annandale, boyfriend Travis Wills of Kimball, grandparents Ron and Mary Ann Geisinger of Annandale and Donald and Carol Steffen of Raymond, and many other supportive and loving family and friends.
Desiree Steffen, Caleb Mol, Sarah Happe, Sara Laudenbach, Alex Hohenstein, and Elisa Legatt will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Preston Wills, McKenna Wills, Josh Mol, Hannah Jakel, Miriam Jakel, Skye Steffen, and Ethan Happe.
