Richard Capes, Sr., 69


Richard Capes Sr. of South haven died Sunday, April 6, 2014, at the St. Cloud Hospital. He was 69.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 10, at the Kimball Church of Christ with Pastor Steve Rowland officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will follow at Fair Haven Cemetery.


Richard Francis Capes was born March 5, 1945, in St. Cloud to William “Bud” and Elveria “Toots” (Berthiaume) Capes. Richard attended and graduated high school in Kimball. He was united in marriage to Sharon Marie Ellingson Aug. 9, 1968, in Milbank, S.D. Richard worked on the family farm. He enjoyed softball in his younger years, fishing, bowling, mowing lawn, watching sporting events on the television, and playing cards and marbles. Above all, Richard enjoyed the time he spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Richard is preceded in death by his wife Sharon; and his parents.

He is survived by his children Tammy Johnson (and fiancé John) of Long Prairie, Juliet (and Kelly) Danelke of Fair Haven, Julianna Schultz of Annandale, Rob (and Bobbie) Johnson of Annandale, Richie (and Stacey) Capes of South Haven, and MaryJo Capes of St. Cloud; 10 grandchildren Josh, Boomer, Nicole, Cody, Zach, Shauni, Caitlin, Johnathan, Preston and Emma; and three great-grandchildren; siblings Darlene (and Tom) Rosenow of Kimball, and Randy Capes of Kimball.
