Matilda Defreaz of Mahnomen died Sunday, April 6, 2014, at her home. She was 90.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, April 11, at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Eden Valley with Rev. Tom Fischhaber officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Eden Lake Cemetery in Eden Valley.
Matilda E. Defreaz was born Feb. 2, 1924, in Eden Valley to Clarence and Mathilda (Kollmyre) Welliver. She married Charles W. Freund, Jr. Jan. 22, 1944.
Charles died July 13, 1955. Matilda married Harry Defreaz June 8, 1967. She worked as a bookkeeper for various companies. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and being outside.
Matilda was preceded in death by her parents; first husband Charles; brothers Ernest, Wesley, Arthur, LeRoy, and Clarence; and sister Irene Gilman.
She is survived by her husband Harry of Brainerd; daughter and sons JoAnn (and Myron) Hlad of St. Cloud, Frank (and Joyce) Freund of St. Cloud, Charles W. Freund, III (and Shirley) of Austin, Texas; grandchildren Christina Hlad, Sally (and Jeff) Nestor, Rhonda (and Ryan) Conda, Melanie Hlad, Kerry (and Tyler) Schaff, Frank Freund, Jr., Nicole (and Matthew) Leinonen, and Stephanie Freund; and eight great-grandchildren.
