Robert “Bob” Ertl of Watkins died Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at the St. Cloud Hospital following a short battle with cancer. He was 57.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 25, at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Watkins with Fr. Jerome Naduvathaniyil and Fr. Richard Gross officiating. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, and from 9-10 a.m. Friday at the Ertl Funeral Home. Interment will be in the St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery.
Robert “Bob” Ertl was born March 29, 1957, in St. Paul, Minn. to Alphonse and Elizabeth “Betty” (Post) Ertl. He attended St. John’s Prep and graduated from Eden Valley-Watkins High School. He was an OTR truck driver all of his working life, driving for Donnay Farm Service, Anderson Trucking, Schanno, and Northwest Dairy. He also had his own authority and operated Riverwest Transportation for many years. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. He enjoyed motorcycling and snowmobiling.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his children Tanya (and Craig) Reinert of Watkins, Mitch Ertl of Litchfield, Jake Ertl of Watkins, Abby Ertl of Watkins; grandchildren Gina and Grant; brother and sister Tom (and Amy) Ertl of Watkins, Mary (and Robert “Sherman”) Gross of Watkins; nieces and nephews.
Music will be by Kathy Pauls. Casket bearers will be Nick Gross, Ben Stommes, Jeremy Stang, Justin Rademacher, Craig Reinert, and Grant Oporto. Arrangements are with Ertl Funeral Home, Watkins.
