Mark Connelly, 57


Mark Connelly, formerly of Minneapolis, and formerly of Kimball, died Jan. 7, 2014, at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral, Fla. He was 57.

A memorial service will be held at noon Friday, May 23, at Washburn-McReavy Crystal Lake Chapel in Minneapolis. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.


Mark E. Connelly was born March 23, 1956, to Joyce and Evans Connelly Sr. of Minneapolis. The family lived on School Section Lake near Kimball for many years, and Mark graduated from Kimball Area High School in 1974.

Mark graduated from St. Cloud State University in 1978, with degrees in public relations and mass communications. He married his childhood sweetheart Mary Idell Grosser in fall 1986; they later divorced amicably. He worked as an associate broker with RE/MAX Results in the Twin Cities.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, and by his partner Kent Driessen in December 2012.

He is survived by his partner’s children Alex Driessen of St. Cloud, and Lyz Alamo of Port Richey, Fla., and grandson Randy Alamo III; 

his siblings Jim Connelly, Kandi Sauer, and Evans “Chip” Connelly Jr.; nine nieces and nephews; and by his former wife Mary (Grosser) Koch.
