April 14: Eden Valley Chamber meeting

A representative of the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce will be at the next meeting of the Eden Valley Chamber of Commerce. 

Social time starts at 6 p.m., with dinner at 6:30 and the meeting starting at 7, at Valley Inn in Eden Valley.

Attendees will get ideas for how to get more people involved, 

Countdown to Construction

You are invited to attend a Highway 24 Resurfacing Project Update/Open House 4:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, march 25, at Meeker County Courthouse Community Room, 325 Sibley Avenue North, Litchfield.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) plans to resurface 16 miles of Highway 24 between Litchfield and Highway 15, beginning mid-May 2014. The project will require a detour to complete the work.

Please plan to join us for this informational open house on the project. Stop by between 4:30-6:30 p.m. to have your project-related questions answered by MnDOT representatives – no formal presentation will be given.

March 22: Party for volunteers in Watkins

A Volunteer Apreciation Party is planned for 6 p.m. Saturday, March 22.

Volunteers, this is for you. All volunteers are invited, this will be at the Watkins Legion.

Frilly's Place now open in Watkins

Jim and Terry Frilstad (at right) opened to the public March 1 in the building shared with Watkins Liquor Warehouse (formerly MT Plates, and before that Family w-Frillys-PlaceInn).

The restaurant is open from 6 a.m.-9 p.m. seven days a week. They feature home cooking with bread baked fresh daily, homemade soups and chili, fresh burgers with homemade buns, homemade salads in the salad bar, and daily specials. (The caramel rolls and French toast with caramel sauce are to die for!) They hope to add a breakfast buffet soon. They serve fresh ice cream by the scoop.

Both Jim (who will keep his job as Chief of Police in Kimball) and Terry have a good deal of experience in the food industry.

Kim-Built Country Store to open soon

The long construction phase is  finally over, merchandise is being stocked and gasoline tanks filled. 

Kim-Built has installed a Tesoro gas station, and built a convenience store called Country Store & Deli. Besides convenience items, Country Store & Deli will w-Kim-Builtoffer Champs Chicken, Teco’s Tacos, and Slammerz Pizza.

Kim-Built Country Store & Deli plans to open this week or next. They are hiring cashiers and deli workers, so stop in to apply. 

Kim-Built Country Store & Deli is located on the corner of Highway 15 and 135th Street on the north side of Kimball.
