Local young actors take us to 'Middle Earth'

Journey to Middle Earth when GREAT Children's Theatre presents THE HOBBIT

GREAT Children's Theatre, St. Cloud, continues our Season 15 with the epic tale The Hobbit. This not-to-be-missed play opens at the Paramount Theatre Friday, Oct. 12, featuring a cast of 34 local actors. Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased by visiting www.GreatTheatre.org, or by calling the Box Office at (320) 259-5463.

The Hobbit is being directed by Ted Brown alongside Fight Choreographer-Michael Geppert, Costume Designer-Brigid Borka, and Set Designer-Michael Horejsi. This show features a cast of 34 local central Minnesota actors ranging from age 8 through adult, cast through open auditions.

Of special note is our Hobbit Knitting project that called on

84 volunteer community knitters to knit and crochet squares, rectangles, hoods, etc. and then worked to put them together to create the beautiful costumes you will see on stage.

Join us for Tolkien's classic novel turned suspenseful, fast moving theatrical journey through Middle Earth. Bilbo Baggins is a comfortably well-off hobbit with a love for adventure stories. Real adventures, however, are not his cup of tea. So when Gandalf the Wizard knocks at Bilbo's door with Thorin Oakenshield, 11 ragged-looking dwarfs and a contract to recover the lost treasure of Lonely Mountain, Bilbo could not be less interested - at first. But Bilbo's love of a good story gets the better of him, and soon he's off on a perilous quest over mountain and under hill, through caves and forest and slimy dark places.
