October Students of the Month

In order to recognize achievement, outstanding progress, and responsible behavior in our student body, grade-level teams made up of teachers select one Kimball Area High School student in each grade to be recognized as the Student of the Month. The monthly winners are recognized in school, on the school website, and in the Tri-County News. They also receive a Subway gift certificate and Chamber Bucks from the Kimball Area Chamber of Commerce. Special thanks to Luxemburg's Subway and the Kimball Chamber of Commerce for sponsoring this program. The following students are recognized for October 2012:

Grade 7-Abbey Schiefelbein

Abbey is a student who is not afraid to speak up when necessary, and always uses her time wisely. She has a genuine enthusiasm for learning, evidenced by her bright smile. Her positive attitude and ability to get along with all other classmates are other reasons we have selected Abbey as student of the month.

Grade 8-Keali'i Kapoi

He's a positive influence in the classroom. He's a proven hard worker and consciences about his work. He's consistent and uses his time wisely. He's respectful and genuine to his peers and has proven to be a great team player in group assignments. He really stands out as a positive role model in the classroom.

Grade 9-Shay Krippner

Shay has been selected because of her ability to be a positive advocate and a hard worker who gives consistent academic effort. She is a respectful and a responsible student who is highly self-motivated to complete classroom tasks thoroughly. Shay's problem solving skills, along with persistence to do well academically, makes her a qualified candidate as our 9th grade student of the month.

Grade 10-Weston Blanchard

Weston Blanchard has been chosen for student of the month. Weston is a great student to have in class. He has learned to advocate for himself and ask questions. He is very polite and works diligently, using class time well. We believe he is a great role model for his classmates and an asset to the class.

Grade 11-Jaycee Thompson

Jaycee Thompson has been selected as October's Student of the Month. As a junior, Jaycee has really come into her own. She has a great attitude in general as she has shown an appreciation for a variety of topics and activities in and out of the classroom. Jaycee will take a challenge and face it head on, despite how difficult that challenge may be. She is an advocate for herself, seeking help when she needs it. She also responsibly accepts consequences when things may not go her way. Jaycee is likeable and approachable, and she is a fun addition to any classroom because of her energy and willing attitude. Oh, and we can't forget, she is a HUGE fan of One Direction, what great dedication! Congratulations to Jaycee Thompson on her selection.

Grade 12-Kristen Weiner

The 12th-grade team has selected Kristen as student of the month for October because of her focus on her academics, her attentiveness in class, and her participation in discussions. Kristen's level of responsibility and respect are the hallmarks of a conscientious student. Her work as a TA shows her diligence and focus as well. Kristen works hard to be a successful student, and that effort cannot go unnoticed. Congratulations Kristen!
