December 21 EVW Update

Building Project:

Progress on the secondary construction project continues, and we’re hopeful to move into the offices in January.

East Side Glass will install the remaining interior vestibule glass once the terrazzo flooring is complete. The offices, bathroom, and concession floors are completed with VCT, quarry tile, and carpet. The painters continue to spray the acoustical panels, colored bands, and have started on the EV-W Eagle logo on the West wall. Daktronics has been mounting the shot clocks on the main court baskets and the scoreboards will be hung in the near future. Grazzini continues to lay the terrazzo flooring while grinding follows and completes the labor intense process. As stated earlier, we continue to monitor the moisture content of the gymnasium slab and once we get our internal concrete moisture content below a reading of 80, we can initiate the hardwood installation.

Please stop in and make arrangements for a visit, and be sure to exercise caution when you’re in the proximity of the construction zone.

Sandy Hook Elementary School:

It’s been a week since an incomprehensible tragedy occurred in Newtown, Conn. I’ve spent a great deal of time reflecting on this event and would like to share a few thoughts with you.

While many lives were lost, it is apparent that because of the actions of the staff and administration, many lives were saved. This thought made me feel very proud to be an educator. This terrible incident exemplifies the love that we have for the children we serve.

I want to reassure the parents of our communities, that our number one priority is the safety of your children and the EV-W staff. We have emergency plans in place, we conduct regular practices of emergency drills, and we’ll continue to work with law enforcement to review and implement “best practices” and emergency procedures. During these difficult and trying times, this can be a very worrisome responsibility. Your comforting words, confidence, guidance, and support are always appreciated.

Please take the time to review our district website at:, click on the District dropdown menu and select “crisis management” for emergency related information and resources. Please feel free to contact me if I can be of service.

Quote of the Week:

She demonstrates a positive attitude and willingness to help others. Holly is involved in our senior leadership class and volunteers numerous hours with our elementary students and programs.
