Kimball School Board election results



In Kimball, four candidates ran for three seats on the board. With a mere 200 votes separating the highest from the lowest candidate, all four came in very close in votes. Current board chair Kurt Helgeson, however, received the fewest votes. Incumbents Bob Stein and Tim Zipoy won re-election, and newcomer Troy Hilsgen also was elected.

In the Eden Valley-Watkins district, six candidates ran for four spots. Incumbents Sarah Kuechle, Shelley Kern and Bob Stenger won re-election, and Robert Flaschenriem also was elected.

Watkins gets first new mayor in decades



When current mayor Jim Loch decided not to run again, after about 27 years, few would have guessed that four individuals would file to replace him. Current council member Dennis Loch won last week's election as the new mayor; also running were council members Tootz Tschumperlin and Jersey Piccerillo, and former administrator Larry Hokanson.

Melody Gertken and Sue Unterberger were elected council members from among the four candidates for those two positions; also running were incumbent Jerry Hesse and Leroy Holthaus.
