Teachers Honored

Congratulations to Becky Kuechle, Special Education instructor, and Karen Buermann, first grade teacher, on being selected by their peers as the District’s recipients for the Leadership in Educational Excellence Award. This honor, which is annually sponsored by Resource Training and Solutions in St. Cloud, is presented to staff that have gone above and beyond in providing quality instructional experiences for their students. Becky and Karen will be recognized along with recipients from other districts throughout central Minnesota at the Rivers Edge Center in St. Cloud on Wednesday, Oct. 30. Congratulations again to Becky and Karen, and thanks for the work they have done for the educational benefit of our youth!

Negotiations

The Eden Valley-Watkins School District continues the work of settling a two-year contract with its teachers. At this point, we have a tentative agreement on most language items and continue to negotiate an increased compensation package for our staff. The District’s bargaining group has a goal to provide a package with fair compensation to recruit, retain, and train staff, and yet demonstrate fiscal responsibility in growing a positive fund balance.

MCA Individual Student Reports

The Minnesota Department of Education will deliver the Individual MCA Student Reports to school districts on Wednesday, Oct. 23. Once received, the district is required to provide families with the individual report within 30 days, but not later than Nov. 22. Once received by the district, we have plans to distribute and share the MCA data with parents at conference time.

Senior of the Week

The EV-W School District would like to recognize Ashley Kelly, daughter of Kimberly. Ashley displays a positive attitude and a “take charge” personality. She is committed to her academics and participates in DECA, FFA, and SADD. She has also represented her school and activity programs with two trips to District and State competitions. Congratulations!
