May 23 Update

Parents and Teachers Working Together

Parents and educators are the primary teachers of caring, kind and respectful behaviors, both through direct classroom instruction and through the ways parents themselves interact with others. Research shows that aggression in children is influenced by aggression they see in the world around them.

When children and teenagers feel good about themselves and are confident in their abilities, they are less likely to be bullied and less likely to bully others. Promoting self-esteem and self-efficacy is an ongoing process that requires us as adults to be reflective about the balance between caring for children, and giving them the autonomy and confidence to solve problems on their own.
