Thank you very much to everyone who helped make the Friends of the Library used book sale during Valley Daze a huge success. We took in $130. Thank you to everyone who assisted on Kick Off night, book sale set up, cashiers, and sorted and boxed up left-over books. We had many local folks who had not visited before stop by to browse through the library and Event Center. We had many people – especially children – stop by for a library card. We even promoted our fine facilities to local lake folks who also showed a real interest in our library and signed up for library cards. They were thrilled that we are open Saturdays, and we may have a few new volunteers.
The Summer Reading Program is an absolute “HIT”. Over 40 children were in attendance on Wednesday morning. The 21st Century teens led by Mary
Holmberg and staff had the kids working in Cat in the Hat themed stations, A great time was had by all. Thanks teens. Judy Theilen is keeping track of books read by the kids and the treasure chest is a big hit – donations are always accepted.
Wednesday, July 10, 9:30 a.m., our theme will be dinosaurs, with a walk through the dinosaur jungle, a dino dig and the making of cards that will go to our Meals on Wheels friends and to our local military folks. Thank you, Helen Grothe, for the generous donation of supplies.
Please note: we will not be having our regular-scheduled Friends of the Library meetings July 1 nor Aug. 5, but will start up our meetings again Monday, Sept. 2. We will have a surprise guest author speaking to our community Sunday, Sept. 15 at 2 p.m.. save the date. Stop by the library often – the librarians have been working overtime to make your visit enjoyable and have purchased several books from the the “wish list”. We have a fine selection of Flynn books and can’t keep “Diary of a Wimpy Kid" on the shelves – isn’t that a great problem? We are so delighted to see young people with their bikes parked outside. Happy Reading Everyone!
