Jan. 20: KAHS Financial Aid Night

Kimball Area High School will host a Financial Aid Night at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, in the high school cafetorium. Senior students and parents are encouraged to attend if they have any questions regarding the financial aid process. Anita Baugh from St. Cloud Technical College will be presenting. Focus on Curriculum Jan. 27 at KAHS

Kimball community members are invited to an annual Focus on Curriculum meeting from 4-5:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, in the Kimball Area High School FACS room, enter Door #2. According to the Curriculum Review Cycle, the focus this year is on Career and Technical Education. Teachers in the Ag/Shop, FACS and Business departments will be gaining community insights on the programs including strengths and weaknesses. The meeting will begin with a tour of the three departments. Beverages provided. iPad fundraising update

As of Dec. 31, 2013, $10,480 has been raised to place two iPad minis in each elementary classroom. A total of $14,400 is needed to complete the project. Donations have come from individual donors, the Kimball and Fairhaven Lions clubs, Kimball American Legion, the Kimball Teachers Union, and from fundraisers held at the elementary school.

A donation of $400 will provide an iPad, a protective case, and $20 in apps. Benefit for Evelyn Stone Jan. 3 successful

Retired teacher Dode Klein was on hand at the fish fry. In addition to the field trip fundraiser, donations were being accepted 
W-IMG 6615for Mrs. Klein’s 16-month-old granddaughter, Evelyn Stone, who is hospitalized at Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis. Evelyn needs a heart-lung transplant to treat her pulmonary arterial hypertension, More than $2,000 was raised that night, with more coming in. Staff photos by Jean Doran Matua.

 

 

KES fish fry a whopper of a success

The annual KES fish fry drew an exceptionally large crowd Friday evening, Jan. 3, to Generations Ballroom. The annual W-IMG 6600fundraiser is for fifth- and sixth-grade class field trips. This year, donations were accepted for Evelyn Stone, the 16-month-old granddaughter of retired KES teacher Dode Klein. The winds were howling, and temps were dropping faster, but 474 people came out for the fish fry and benefit.
