“Despite the earlier rain, it was great running weather and great competition on Thursday night, Oct. 3. We had a lot of personal best times,” Eden Valley-Watkins-Kimball coach Holly Hansen said. Looking to hand HL-W-W Lakers their fourth conference loss, the Eagles jumped on the hosts last Friday night, Oct. 4, and looked sharp. The Eden Valley-Watkins gridiron guys got a taste of the end zone early, but the main course would never materialize. Taking an early 7-6 first-quarter lead, the Eagles quickly saw their hopes diminish, as the Lakers scored three unanswered touchdowns, shutting the proverbial door and hanging a 27-7 victory shingle atop. Lakers’ Joe Aalid passed for 152 yards and crossed the goal line twice, on runs. Eagles’ quarterback Nick Pauly threw for 170 yards and connected with Jared Streit on two passes for 97.

Alumni were among the faithful gathered for an Eagles’ Homecoming battle Friday, Sept. 27, with the Pierz Pioneers. Unfortunately, they witnessed a shellacking, as Pierz cruised to a 36-6 victory in the Central Minnesota Conference test. The loss drops Eden Valley-Watkins to 1-3 in the division and 1-4 on the campaign. Senior quarterback Nick Pauly hit Cain Renner in the end zone for the Eagles’ sole touchdown. The Eden Valley-Watkins volleyball team competed in the Dassel-Cokato tournament Satur-day, Sept. 28. This type of tournament really doesn’t mean too much in the win/loss aspect. It is an excellent forum to play against good competition and gather in a lot of valuable experience. The EV-W girls played four matches, vs. Kimball, Sibley East, Dassel-Cokato, and Rockford.
