Holy Cross Catholic School in Marty has exceeded their financial goal for the 2013 Pray and Walk-A-Thon. In the beginning of September, students and their families contacted local companies, friends and families and asked for donations for the annual Pray and Walk-A-Thon. Saturday, Oct. 12,
the families and staff walked around Pearl Lake and stopped and read the prayers and intentions from those who donated.
Author and artist Yvonne Palka shared her story telling and sumi-e (Asian brush) painting skills with the children at Holy Cross School. Students studied the continent of Asia during September and October. Dragon Fire Ocean Mist is written and illustrated by Yvonne. Her sumi-e paintings are beautiful. The students enjoyed learning the sumi-e painting techniques.

Holy Cross School in Marty (also known as Pearl Lake) held their seventh annual dinner and auction Saturday evening, April 13. The theme was “A Night in New Orleans,” and Jack and Ginger Zwilling were the hosts.
There were nearly 100 items donated for the silent auction, including carved wooden ornaments, a number of various gift baskets, garden ornaments, and a number of overnight stays and other gifts donated by local and near-local businesses. There really was something for every interest and taste.
